Job Description
Main Purpose
Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
Accountabilities
Ensuring the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardized protocols.
Ensuring implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations (pre counselling, test and post counselling
Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the TBAs to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
Ensuring hygiene and Infection Prevention Control (including universal precautions) are met according to MSF specifications.
Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
In collaborations with NTS Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Reproductive and Maternal Health Care
Provide comprehensive RH, maternal and newborn health services, including ANC, PNC, family planning, STI management and other midwifery care, in accordance with MSF guidelines and scope of practice and Work as part of the multidisciplinary mobile-clinic team and support the organization of patient flow, triage, referrals and prioritization of urgent cases during mobile-clinic activities
Conduct MUAC screening for pregnant and lactating women and children as applicable within the integrated mobile-clinic package and ensure appropriate referral of identified cases.
Assess, manage and follow up patients appropriately, identify danger signs and complications, and facilitate referral when further medical care is required.
Participate in the preparation and implementation of mobile clinic activities, ensuring availability and proper use of essential equipment, medicines and supplies, as well as adherence to IPC measures.
Provide individual and group health education and counselling on RH, maternal and newborn health, family planning, STI prevention and SGBV, and promote awareness of available services.
Ensure respectful, confidential and patient-centered care; identify barriers to accessing RH services and communicate relevant findings to the MWAM, NAM and PMR.
Identify patients requiring further medical attention and facilitate referral to the appropriate health facility when necessary.
Provide EPI services according to the approved mobile-clinic package and national vaccination schedule, including assessment of vaccination status, administration of indicated vaccines, appropriate documentation and identification/referral of children requiring additional vaccination services. EPI is specifically included within the project's PHC/mobile activity package.
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and SAC
Provide confidential, respectful and non-judgmental care to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in accordance with MSF protocols and the principles of confidentiality, informed consent and survivor-centered care.
Provide appropriate clinical assessment and first-line medical care for SGBV survivors within the scope of the mobile clinic services.
Ensure timely provision or referral for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), emergency contraception, STI management, pregnancy testing and other indicated interventions according to MSF protocols.
Assess and respond appropriately to urgent medical and psychosocial needs and facilitate referral when additional services are required.
Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting of SGBV cases while strictly maintaining patient confidentiality.
Provide Safe Abortion Care (SAC) and post-abortion care within the approved MSF package, professional scope of practice and applicable protocols, ensuring privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
Coordinate with the PMR, MWAM, and relevant project staff regarding SGBV cases requiring additional clinical, psychosocial or referral support.
Data Collection, Reporting and Quality Improvement
Ensure accurate, complete and timely collection and documentation of RH and maternity-related data from mobile clinic activities.
Contribute daily, weekly and monthly reporting of RH activities and indicators.
Use available activity data to identify gaps, trends and priorities and contribute to improving the quality and coverage of mobile clinic RH services.
Ensure appropriate and confidential documentation of patient consultations and clinical interventions.
Participate in monitoring of RH service quality and implementation of agreed improvement actions.
Safety, Security and Professional Conduct
Follow MSF security, safety and operational procedures during mobile clinic activities, including travel to and from hard-to-reach locations.
Comply with established procedures for mobile clinic movements, communication, travel and field activities, particularly when operating in areas with challenging road conditions or potential security constraints.
Maintain awareness of the operational and security context and promptly report any concern that may affect staff or patient safety.
Comply with MSF Behavioral Commitment, MSF Charter and Principles, and all relevant professional and ethical standards.
Maintain strict confidentiality and respect for patients' dignity, privacy and informed consent at all times.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in team meetings, clinical discussions, training, supervision and other capacity-building activities as required.
Support other medical or operational activities within the scope of professional competence when requested by the supervisor.
Support Begi hospital SRH department when needed
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in the best interest of patients and the quality of MSF activities.
Job Requirements
Education Essential midwifery qualification or specialization. Desired Bachelor in Midwifery, Professional practicing license
Experience Essential working experience of at least two years in midwife activities related jobs
Languages Essential local language; Afaan Oromo. Proficiency in English an important asset
