OFR Team Leader

Job Summary:

The Ocean Freight Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing ocean freight operations and customer service activities to ensure the efficient movement of goods and information across global supply chains. The role involves managing daily team operations, optimizing resources, maintaining customer relationships, monitoring operational performance, and ensuring the timely and accurate handling of import and export shipments. The successful candidate will contribute to business growth, service quality improvement, and achievement of operational and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the implementation of Ocean Freight Operations and Customer Service (OFR Ops/CS) strategies and plans in line with business objectives, corporate guidelines, and policies.

• Monitor day-to-day team operations, prioritize and assign tasks, and ensure effective utilization of team resources to meet operational schedules and targets.

• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and achievement of ocean freight productivity targets.

• Assist in developing and executing ocean freight product plans in areas such as perishables, pharmaceuticals, aviation, and other specialized sectors.

• Identify opportunities to expand business with new clients and continuously improve internal customer service.

• Develop and maintain strong business relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

• Monitor account performance and prepare monthly operational and performance reports for management.

• Establish and strengthen customer relationships through regular client visits.

• Contribute to the preparation of shipping tenders and ensure the timely submission of relevant documents.

• Respond promptly to pricing inquiries and ensure competitive quotations and accurate updates of local tariffs.

• Oversee inbound and outbound shipment documentation processes for all relevant services.

• Contribute to the development of processes and systems that enhance service quality and support the company's long-term objectives.

• Identify operational challenges and improvement opportunities and implement practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Ocean Freight Product Responsibilities:

• Create and confirm transport orders and manage and optimize shipment bookings.

• Prepare, control, and distribute all required import and export documentation.

• Monitor supplier performance and recommend solutions to address performance-related issues.

• Update customs shipment information and physical shipment status.

• Resolve customer issues, shipment incidents, and operational challenges.

Stakeholder Management:

• Understand customer and key stakeholder interests and concerns and provide appropriate guidance and support.

• Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with company managers and relevant stakeholders.

• Collaborate extensively with other specialist departments.

• Coordinate with third parties, including external service providers, to ensure effective service delivery.

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent related field.

Required Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.

• In-depth experience in ocean freight operations and customs procedures.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding operations.

• Strong understanding of ocean freight and customs procedures.

• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
