Job Summary
The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services required for the organization's operations. The role ensures timely purchasing, cost-effective procurement, supplier relationship management, and compliance with company procurement policies while maintaining quality standards and supporting efficient business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, delivery performance, and reliability.
- Obtain quotations, compare supplier offers, and recommend the best purchasing options.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contract conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company procurement procedures.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Coordinate with user departments to understand purchasing requirements and specifications.
- Monitor purchase orders and resolve issues related to delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, and purchasing documentation.
- Work closely with the warehouse or store team to verify receipt of purchased items.
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and ethical procurement practices.
- Prepare periodic procurement reports and purchasing performance analyses.
- Support inventory planning to ensure continuous availability of materials while minimizing excess stock.
- Perform other procurement-related duties assigned by the Procurement Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Must be willing to relocate to Butajira
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supplies Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- 0 - 6 Months of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles and purchasing procedures.
- Excellent supplier sourcing and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of inventory management and supply chain operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and procurement or ERP systems.
