Job Purpose
To ensure raw materials, in-process material and finished edible oil products meet quality, safety and regulatory requirements through robust inspection, testing and quality-management systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement and maintain quality control procedures, sampling plans and testing protocols across the production process.
Supervise incoming raw-material inspection and finished-product release testing (e.g., FFA, moisture, peroxide value, color, and other relevant parameters).
Oversee laboratory testing activities and ensure test equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
Ensure compliance with applicable food-safety and quality standards (e.g., Ethiopian Standards Agency requirements, HACCP/ISO 22000 principles).
Manage non-conformance investigations, product holds, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Supervise, train and evaluate Shaft QC inspectors, ensuring consistent application of QC checklists and procedures.
Maintain quality records, certificates of analysis and traceability documentation for audits and customer requirements.
Liaise with the Process and Operation Supervisor to address quality issues arising during production.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and support internal/external quality audits and inspections.
Drive continuous improvement of quality systems, procedures and product consistency.
Job Requirements
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of quality-management systems and laboratory testing methods for edible oils.
High attention to detail and rigorous documentation discipline.
Analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.
Supervisory and training skills.
Effective communication with production, engineering and regulatory stakeholders.
Working Conditions
Combination of laboratory and shop-floor work; may involve exposure to chemicals/reagents used in testing (with appropriate PPE) and periodic presence during all production shifts.
Qualifications and Experience
BSc in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control, preferably in edible oil or food manufacturing.
Familiarity with food safety management systems (HACCP/ISO 22000) and relevant national quality standards.
