The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, effective financial controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
Manage and review day-to-day accounting transactions and ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts, trial balances, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Perform regular bank, supplier, customer, inventory, and general ledger reconciliations.
Review import and export-related accounting transactions, including customs duties, taxes, freight, clearing charges, and other associated costs.
Ensure proper calculation and recording of landed costs for imported goods.
Monitor and reconcile foreign currency transactions and related exchange differences.
Review accounts payable and accounts receivable and ensure timely settlement and collection.
Monitor inventory accounting and reconcile physical inventory with accounting records.
Ensure proper recording and classification of expenses, assets, liabilities, revenues, and costs.
Support tax calculations, declarations, and compliance with applicable Ethiopian tax requirements.
Coordinate with banks, suppliers, customers, auditors, customs/clearing agents, and other relevant stakeholders when required.
Review accounting entries and supporting documents to ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
Support budgeting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
Assist with audit preparation and provide required financial schedules and supporting documentation.
Identify accounting discrepancies, control weaknesses, and unusual transactions and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
Supervise and provide guidance to junior accounting staff where applicable.
Perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is an advantage.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with demonstrated experience at a senior accounting level.
Mandatory or strongly preferred experience in an Import & Export, trading, distribution, or multi-corporate environment.
