Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with mining operations in multiple countries including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM holds a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three contiguous Exploration Licenses for its Ethiopian project. These licenses are located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, in the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently engaged in both mine development and exploration activities at the site.
JOB TITLE: RESOURCE GEOLOGIST
ABOUT THE JOB
KGM is searching for a Resource Geologist with a minimum of 7 years of experience in resource development in a mine setting. Reporting to the Senior Resource Geologist, his/her duties will include but will not be limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining geological and resource models, including 3D models of mineralized zones, and perform resource estimations using data from drilling, sampling, and other geological surveys;
- Analyzing geological data, including drill core samples, geophysical results, and mapping data, to interpret geological structures, mineralization styles, and orebody characteristics;
- Providing geological input to mine planning, including recommendations for optimal resource extraction, mine development, and grade control strategies;
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of geological data, maintaining the geological databases, and implementing quality control procedures for data collection and analysis;
- Working closely with other geologists, engineers, and mine planners to share information, collaborate on projects, and contribute to decision-making.
General Tasks:
- Conducting geological surveys and mapping
- Developing geological models using software like Leapfrog and Minex
- Generating exploration targets based on geological data
- Performing resource estimations and classifications
- Monitoring and reporting on the reconciliation between resource models and actual production
- Developing and implementing grade control strategies
- Preparing technical reports and presentations
- Providing geological support for mining operations
- A tertiary qualification/diploma in Geology from a recognized institution
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in resource development in a mine setting with experience creating geological and resource models
- Strong understanding of geological principles and concepts
- Experience in using geological software and data analysis tools
- Ability to interpret geological data and develop accurate resource models
- Good knowledge of database, GIS, and Leapfrog or similar software, in particular 3D modelling
- Strong 3D geological interpretation and modelling skills.
- Demonstrated ability in the production of technical documentations and reports
- Knowledge of mining industry standards and practices
- Experience in ERP systems, advance Excel skills and experience innexploratory data analysis
- Written and spoken English – Amharic proficiency will be an advantage
- Able to work within tight timelines, maintaining accuracy and efficiency of assigned tasks
- Valid driver’s licence
