Position Summary
The Plant & Equipment Administration Director is a senior leadership role responsible for strategic management, operational efficiency, and lifecycle optimization of all plant, heavy machinery, construction equipment, and related assets within OVID Construction.
This role ensures that all equipment operations — from acquisition and deployment to maintenance and disposal — are executed in a cost-effective, safe, and sustainable manner. The Director plays a critical role in supporting project execution, ensuring plant and equipment availability, minimizing downtime, and maximizing return on investment.
Core Purpose of the Role
To lead the strategic planning, acquisition, allocation, maintenance, and performance management of OVID Construction’s plant and equipment fleet, enabling on-time, high-quality, and cost-efficient project delivery across the business.
Top Roles and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Asset & Equipment Management
- Develop and implement a Group-wide Plant & Equipment strategy aligned with project timelines, operational requirements, and capital planning.
- Oversee the acquisition, leasing, or disposal of plant and equipment in line with corporate cost-efficiency and performance standards.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive asset register, tracking the location, utilization, and lifecycle of all equipment.
2. Operations, Maintenance & Performance Optimization
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and extend asset lifespan.
- Ensure optimal deployment of equipment across multiple projects, avoiding under-utilization or overloading.
- Set performance KPIs for equipment utilization, maintenance efficiency, and downtime reduction.
3. Budgeting, Cost Control & ROI
- Develop and manage the annual budget for plant and equipment operations, ensuring alignment with project and corporate objectives.
- Monitor operating costs, fuel consumption, spare parts usage, and maintenance expenses to achieve cost savings.
- Conduct ROI analysis on equipment investments and replacements.
4. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines for all plant and equipment operations.
- Oversee operator certification programs and ensure safe operation of machinery on all sites.
- Implement strict asset security measures to prevent theft, misuse, or unauthorized access.
5. Technology, Innovation & Process Excellence
- Drive the adoption of equipment management software, GPS tracking, and IoT monitoring systems.
- Introduce modern fuel efficiency technologies and eco-friendly machinery to support sustainability goals.
- Standardize equipment operation protocols, documentation, and reporting formats.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Finance teams to align equipment planning with project needs.
- Provide input to contract negotiations involving plant hire, maintenance outsourcing, or service agreements.
- Collaborate with the Holding-level Plant & Equipment teams for shared knowledge and resources.
7. Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and manage a high-performing Plant & Equipment team including maintenance engineers, operators, and administrators.
- Mentor and develop staff, ensuring skills transfer, succession planning, and career growth.
- Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and safety-first operations.
8. Executive Reporting & Strategic Advisory
- Provide regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to the CEO.
- Advise on future equipment needs, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
- Participate in executive decision-making forums to ensure plant and equipment considerations are integrated into corporate strategy.
9. Additional Duties
- Carry out other strategic and operational tasks as assigned by the CEO.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required).
- Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration (MBA), or relevant discipline (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience in plant & equipment management within large-scale construction, infrastructure, or mining environments.
- Proven leadership experience in equipment lifecycle planning, and technical operations.
- Strong track record of cost reduction, efficiency gains, and operational excellence.
