Job Summary: To provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the remittance and correspondent banking functions by managing international money transfer services, maintaining strong relationships with correspondent banks and money transfer operators (MTOs), ensuring compliance with regulatory and AML/CFT requirements, and enhancing the efficiency and profitability of cross-border payment operations in line with the institution’s goals.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Remittance Operations:

  • Oversee the processing of inward and outward foreign remittances
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of remittance transactions following regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and reconcile daily remittance transactions.
  • Assist in resolving customer and branch queries related to international remittances.
  • Work with IT and operations to improve automation and efficiency in remittance processing.

Correspondent Banking & Relationship Management:

  • Manage and maintain relationships with correspondent banks and financial institutions globally.
  • Monitor Nostro/Vostro accounts and ensure timely reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with AML/CFT and KYC norms in correspondent banking relationships.
  • Coordinate with correspondent banks for issue resolution, rate negotiations, and service improvements.
  • Support the onboarding and renewal of correspondent relationships, including due diligence and documentation.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with central bank guidelines, FATF recommendations, and internal policies.
  • Liaise with the Compliance Department for any suspicious transactions or regulatory queries.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to remittance and correspondent banking.

Reporting & MIS:

  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to management and regulators on remittance volumes, trends, and issues.
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide insights for business improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Banking, International Business, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in international remittance operations or correspondent banking.
  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT, international payment systems, and cross-border remittance regulations.
  • Familiarity with AML, OFAC, FATCA, and other compliance regulations.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with core banking systems and SWIFT platforms is a plus.
