The Cholera Response Project Manager – Epidemiologist will lead the implementation and coordination of cholera outbreak response activities, including surveillance, case management, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and IPC interventions, and community engagement in Khafta Humera. The position holder ensures evidence-based planning, data-driven decision-making, and effective collaboration with health authorities, partners, and community structures.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES
Lead the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of cholera response activities in Khafta Humera.
Coordinate with local health authorities, WHO and other partners to align response efforts.
Ensure effective integration of epidemiological data into decision-making and intervention prioritization.
Prepare project work plans, procurement plans, and implementation schedules.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor activity implementation and provide technical support.
Support and strengthen cholera surveillance systems, including case detection, reporting, and verification.
Together with the local government conduct outbreak investigations,develop and share epidemic curves, line lists, and situation reports regularly.
Map affected kebeles/woredas, define CATI radii, set visit targets, and prioritize vulnerable population.
Lead data collection, management, and analysis to identify hotspots and guide response targeting.
Build the capacity of RRT, field teams and health facility staff on case definitions, reporting, data analysis and outbreak control.
Provide technical guidance to zonal and woreda RRTs on surveillance, data quality, case management/IPC, WASH, and RCCE, ensuring adherence to national guidelines.
Support the establishment and supervision of Cholera Treatment Centers (CTCs) and Oral Rehydration Points (ORPs).
Ensure adherence to standard case management and infection prevention protocols.
Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure adequate supplies of essential medicines and materials.
Coordinate with WASH partners to ensure access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion in affected communities.
Support the development and dissemination of health education and risk communication materials.
Prepare weekly situation reports and contribute to donor and cluster updates.
Ensure quality documentation of lessons learned and best practices.
Contribute to project evaluations and after-action reviews.
Work in close consultation with the health program manager and Senior officer while implementing all activities and utilization of the budget.
Prepare and provide regular monthly progress reports.
Participate in daily/weekly coordination and situation review meetings at zonal and regional level as needed.

Master’s Degree in Field Epidemiology or Epidemiology preferred. Master’s degree in general public health, or related field will be considered as alternative.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in epidemic response, with at least 2 years in cholera or similar outbreak management.
Proven experience in project management, coordination, and team leadership.
Demonstrated experience in data analysis and use of epidemiological tools (Epi Info, Excel, Power BI, etc.).
Strong understanding of national and WHO cholera control guidelines.
Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
Fluency in English (required); knowledge of local language(s) is an advantage.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
Analytical and problem-solving ability.
Commitment to humanitarian principles and public health ethics.
Ability to work under pressure and in insecure environments.
Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis software.
