Job Summary
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Area Program Manager, the Technical Officer – Asset Creation will be part of the program delivery team responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring and ensuring that all activities related to asset creation (agricultural value chain and entrepreneurship and business development) are implemented in a timely and efficient manner according to the agreed guidelines, standards and budget; co-facilitate community led system sensing (system’s mapping); and co-create and deliver solutions that build resilience. By strategically aligning asset creation efforts with FH’s mission, the productive learning technical officer plays a crucial role in enhancing both the impact and sustainability of FH’s initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities
Key Result #1 – Technical support and leadership
Lead and ensure the overall design and management met of Asset Creation pathway (agricultural value chain and entrepreneurship and business development) activities of the AP
Organize and support capacity-building activities in Asset Creation; identify capacity gaps, coordinate training, and provide post training/mentorship to volunteers/development facilitators.
Collaborate with and support the AP (AP manager, PC, DFs) in the co-creation of solutions that are community led and contextual appropriate
Manage and coordinate project activity (agribusiness and value chain development) implementation in line with approved activity plans and budgets, ensuring implementation is on time, on scope and on budget.
Providing technical support, and/or backstopping to frontline staff (development facilitators), volunteers and stakeholders
Lead and undertake the preparation of annual, quarterly and monthly planning process of Asset Creation activities
Plan and conduct regular monitoring and supportive supervision of implementation of AC activities.
Engage with shareholders and stakeholders to analyze local systems, identify patterns, and recognize areas where interventions can create the most significant impact
Support capacity-building activities in business development skills, identifying the needs of farmer groups, model farmers and agricultural cooperatives, and designing and delivering tailored training.
Create asset creation coordination platform in collaboration with the woreda/district agriculture office and community leverage the existing system to develop buy in.
Work closely with the MERL team to monitor and track the progress of asset creation initiatives and documents and report lesson learned.
Utilize the monitoring tools in collaboration with MERL to ensure the quality of implementation of Asset Creation initiatives at AP level.
Guide FH project teams to support farmer groups focused on farming as a business, providing practical tools to recognize and support women and youth farmers as key and underserved groups in agribusiness.
Engage in continuous learning and adaptation to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve.
Prepared and submitted quality periodic progress reports (quarterly, bi-annual and annual) within agreed reporting timelines and in accordance with the established donor and organizational formats.
Review and ensure proper documentation of all AC activities and best practices in compliance with agreed standards
Collaborate with MERL team in undertaking periodic M&E activities and share findings with staff and other relevant stakeholders.
Key result #2 -Project reporting, documentation, and M&E

Key result #3 – Strategic Partnerships development
Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners, other NGOs, local leaders, and other stakeholders in planning and implementation
Identify and map local key institutional actors, donors, and partners relevant to the Asset Creation pathway and related technical specializations.
Prepare concept notes for Asset Creation by identifying catalytic solutions in coordination with relevant AP staff
Provide input into project proposals development that will be implemented in the area
Work closely with AP manager, program coordinator and finance to develop project activity budgets during AOP, proposal and concept note development
develop procurement plans in collaboration with the Procurement/Finance Officer and AP manager/coordinator, and track procurements in line with the plan
Key Result #4 - Organizational Culture
Champion the promotion of FH culture, mindsets and behaviors in all interactions, serving as a role model.
Lead the integration of faith-based principles into the role fostering a holistic approach to development.
Any other duty may be assigned from time to time.

Demonstrated experience in program design and capacity building within MCAHN, along with knowledge of mental health and psychosocial support.
Demonstrable experience in community and health systems strengthening to sustainably improve the performance of health systems.
Must demonstrate experience in data gathering, data demand and usage especially for MCAHN.
Demonstrable experience in social behavior change and communication skills especially strategy development, implementation or integration.
Experience in networking partnership building, preferably working within government structures and systems.
Demonstrable capacity to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
Demonstrable skills in technical writing including project reports and other technical documents

Encourage female staff to participate in external networks (local and regional), as well as seminars and cross visits.
Facilitate open and regular discussions with staff on about the work environment, policies, and values convenient to gender issues
Safety & Security Responsibility
Visiting project Offices and operational areas periodically to meet staff and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures.
Explains to staffs the reasoning behind the organization’s safety and security policies and procedures
Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members. If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;
Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;
Encourages staffs to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are kept in Human resources
Education and Experience
At least 3 years working experience working on programs supporting agriculture and agribusiness among smallholder farmers and farmers groups.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in agricultural sciences, Agri business development, animal and livestock development, environment, natural resource management and rural development, or other relevant fields.

Relevant experience in engaging with a variety of stakeholders in a value chain/market system development.
Demonstrable capacity to work under stringent time pressure and to prioritize tasks.
Demonstrable skills in writing well-structured technical, training and reporting documents (English).
