Summary of the Position
The role of a Senior ICT infrastructure expert involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems that are essential for the company’s success. The Senior Systems Engineer fosters team collaboration by working closely with various departments to align technology solutions with company goals, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise SAN environments (e.g., EMC, NetApp, IBM Storwize).
- Manage zoning, LUN provisioning, multipathing, and performance tuning.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies using SAN replication and snapshots.
- Monitor storage health and capacity, ensuring high availability and scalability
- Administer tape backup infrastructure (e.g., IBM TS3100/TS3200 /TS4500, Quantum Scalar etc).
- Configure and troubleshoot tape drives, autoloaders, and robotic arms.
- Manage backup schedules, retention policies, and media lifecycle.
- Integrate tape systems with backup software (e.g., IBM Spectrum Protect, Veritas NetBackup).
- Lead administration of IBM Power servers (P7, P8, P9, P10) running AIX and Linux.
- Configure LPARs, DLPARs, and manage VIOS environments.
- Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
- Implement high availability solutions (e.g., HACMP, PowerHA) and GPFS clustering.
- Manage system security, LDAP integration, and compliance audits.
- Set up, troubleshoot, manage and administer voice over IP phone system.
- Coordinate FileNet and EMC system configuration changes, manage disk storage consumption, allocate/mask storage, and document system configurations/changes.
- Automate systems administration tasks and systems health checks (with e-mail notifications) utilizing Perl and Linux shell scripting.
- Perform virtualization tasks with Vmware, ldoms, Solaris zones, Sparc hard domains, Solaris containers.
- Produce and maintain UNIX procedural and system configuration documentation.
- Provide systems administration and support to Linux servers running critical trading applications.
- Design security guidelines and policies to address audit findings, implement security configurations in UNIX environment.
- Work closely with other developers to share the understanding of business requirements and propose new application architecture for the interfacing project.
- Participate in change management, rapid coding development & prototyping, implementation and post implementation support.
Qualifications Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, computer engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure roles.
- Certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX, SNIA Storage Networking, or equivalent.
- Deep expertise in SAN technologies, tape backup systems, and IBM Power/AIX.
- Strong scripting skills (Korn Shell, Bash, Python) for automation.
- Strong Expertise with virtualization (PowerVM), monitoring tools, and ITIL practices.
