Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer and in accordance with the general policies guidelines and procedures of the Company, plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the testing analyses and laboratory operation, Product Certification, Sampling & inspection, Research & product development functions of the Company. Formulates policies strategies and guidelines pertinent to the testing analyses and laboratory operation, Product Certification, Sampling & inspection Research & product development, functions of the Company and ensures their proper implementation; and ensures that the directorate and its various units are adequately organized and facilitated with the proper manpower, equipment, material and financial resources and are operating smoothly and efficiently to meet Company objectives and satisfy customer’s requirements.

1. 4.  Responsibilities

The following are the key responsibilities of the Testing and Conformity Assessment Director: 

• Plans, organizes, co-ordinates, and directs the technical functions of the company in line with the general policies, procedures and values of the company.
• Formulates policies, strategies and procedures for the laboratory, Product certification, Research & product development, and inspection functions of the company and implements upon approval.
• Prepares long, medium and short term operations plan of the department and ensures their implementation upon approval. 
• Responsible for the application, evaluation, and training of approved microbiological/chemical techniques and methodologies used in the analysis of food products. 
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with the ISO / IEC 17025, ISO / IEC 17020, and ISO / IEC 17065 guide for food testing and conformity assessment activities.
• Propose and oversee continuous improvement of Laboratory, product certification, Research & product development, and inspection Performances. 
• Responsible for the overall performance of the laboratory, product certification, Research & product development and inspection in compliance with AOAC and ISO and other relevant and approved standards.
• Monitor and review all laboratory operations, product certification, Research & product development and inspection to provide the most efficient and highest quality results and services. 
• Ensures the establishment, implementation and maintenance of appropriate systems in order to the provision of efficient and smooth technical services. 
• Oversee preventive and overhaul maintenance programs for the equipment, utilities and auxiliary equipment and executes to keep the equipment in good working conditions and attain maximum capacity utilization.
• As part of the Laboratory Management Team and works closely in assisting in the daily functions associated with the maintenance of the quality and training systems and providing technical support to laboratory, product certification, Research & product development, and inspection operations.
• Review, assess, and approve changes to critical documents such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), associated safety protocols, and documentation to ensure improvement in practices and quality. 
• Oversee implementations of new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures.
• He oversees implementation and maintenance of ISO accreditation of the laboratory, product certification and inspection.
• Communicating customer requirements effectively to the Laboratory, product certification, Research & product development, and inspection teams, to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Identification of new business opportunities and requirements through continued personal technical knowledge of new equipment, methods, technology and legislative requirements.
• Seeking opportunities for business growth with existing or potential new clients.
• Oversee all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to practice of good environmental waste management.
• Attends educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
• Evaluates the performance of subordinates.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as required.   

• Performs other related managerial and non-managerial tasks.

10 or 12  years, respectively, of relevant experience of which 2 years should be at Management level.

Good knowledge of conformity assessment systems based on ISO/IEC 17020,ISO/IEC 17025 and, ISO/IEC 17065
