Position Overview

The Role

The Customs Transit Officer serves as the primary internal point of contact to ensure the seamless, compliant, and timely clearance of all imported goods. This role is critical in managing relationships with clearing agents and meeting all regulatory requirements to prevent supply chain disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customs & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee end-to-end clearance for all shipments, including commercial and special "Free of Charge" (FOC) items.
• Operational Excellence: Achieve a target port dwelling time of 4–6 days per shipment.
• Financial Management: Ensure accurate and timely payment of all customs duties, taxes, and fees, maintaining meticulous records of receipts.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with clearing agents to facilitate physical inspections and secure the final release and delivery of goods to the warehouse.
• Specialized Handling: Ensure strict compliance with regulations for pharmaceutical imports, including cold-chain requirements and import permits.
• Documentation & Tracking: Collect and verify essential documents like Air Waybills (AWB) and manage official correspondence from Customs Headquarters.
• Real-time Communication: Provide continuous updates on shipment progress to the logistics team to facilitate fleet arrangements and final delivery.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a professional with a high level of integrity and exceptional attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a health-related field.
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in customs clearance and logistics.
• Industry Knowledge: Practical, in-depth knowledge of customs procedures and regulatory requirements specifically for pharmaceutical imports is mandatory.
• Agency Relations: Proven experience working directly with clearing and freight forwarding agencies.
