Job Summary

The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for Addis Ababa Silk Road General Hospital. This includes transporting staff, patients, medical supplies, and official documents as required. The driver is also expected to maintain the assigned vehicle in good condition, follow all traffic regulations, and ensure timely arrivals and departures. The ideal candidate is punctual, professional, and committed to upholding the hospital’s standards of service and safety.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely transport hospital staff, patients, visitors, and materials to and from designated locations.

• Ensure the assigned vehicle is in good working condition by conducting regular checks and coordinating timely maintenance.

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle at all times.

• Keep accurate records of daily trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents.

• Follow all traffic laws, hospital regulations, and safety procedures while driving.

• Assist patients or staff with loading and unloading of materials or equipment when necessary.

• Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the appropriate department promptly.

• Ensure availability during emergency situations, including after-hours or weekend calls if required.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when transporting hospital-related materials or individuals.

• Support administrative tasks such as document delivery or picking up essential supplies when assigned.

Minimum Specification Requirement

Educational Qualification & Work Experience

• Complete grade 12th

• Minimum of proven driving experience, preferably in an institutional or healthcare setting

• Valid 3rd grade or higher driving license (Public/Professional license preferred)

Knowledge & Skill requirements

•  Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting

  •  Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations

  •  Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with staff, patients, and supervisors

  •  Physically fit and able to assist with loading/unloading when necessary

  •  Good record of punctuality, reliability, and professional conduct

  •  Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings if required

  •  Ability to read and write in Amharic and English

  •  Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
