Reports to: Program Manager- Child rights Governance
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
Risk and Compliance:
The role holder is required to carry out the duties in accordance with the SCI Fraud, Bribery, and Corruption policy and code of conduct. The key responsibilities include understanding and complying with the SCI policies and procedures, not committing any act of fraud, bribery, or corruption, understanding risks in their area/role, and implementing mitigation measures, report any suspected fraud, bribery, or corruption immediately, declare conflicts of interest in accordance with internal procedures and complete mandatory training related to ethics and anti-fraud measures
ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager – Child Rights Governance, the Child Rights Governance Project Coordinator plays a key role in the development of annual work plans and is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and overseeing partners. The coordinator will be the primary focal person for PRIME and Pro-save related tasks for CRG programs. The coordinator ensures the meaningful participation of children in Save the Children International (SCI) programs and supports the implementation of Child Rights Governance (CRG) Common Approaches.
The role involves close coordination with other functions to facilitate partner monitoring and review meetings, providing technical support to partners upon request, and preparing and submitting various reports, including thematic, financial, and narrative reports. The coordinator is also responsible for documenting and organizing good practices emerging from the project.
In addition, the Project Coordinator works to integrate child rights governance issues across Save the Children’s thematic sectors and among partners including civil society organizations, government entities, and human rights institutions by providing technical support and developing tools and methodologies. The role holder is expected to collaborate closely with key stakeholders such as the Federal Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, the Federal Parliament, CSO partners, child-led structures, and the media to strengthen democratic space and improve government accountability in the delivery of children’s rights in Ethiopia.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Program Development
Engages in annual project planning based on the project document and regular internal program planning and review meetings and provides inputs to quarterly and annual reports.
Organizes and keeps proper documentation of data and information on the project.
Closely work with the head of CRG, the Sr. GEDSI advisor, head of partnerships and the MEAL advisor as well as other thematic sectors to ensure synergy and integrated approaches in programme delivery.
Assisted by the program manager and Head of CRG, closely work with key government Ministries (Federal Ministry of Women and social affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of planning and development and Ministry of Finance, the Federal parliament) , to effectively implement the Sida_CSO and the CRG Budget advocacy projects.
Engage in the development of innovative and technically sound project ideas that can help the project achieve its objectives.
Facilitate mainstreaming of child rights issues in key public sector ministries and agencies, coordination of implementation, follow up and reporting and promoting children’s active civic engagement.
Provide high quality technical input in the implementation of projects.
Systematically gather information and needs from target groups and stakeholders in the field to improve project implementation.
Initiates and facilitates improvements on the project approaches and strategies within the country strategy.
Actively involved in the process of conducing project baselines and midterm reviews/evaluations and ensure key issues/ recommendations identified are used to improve the current project and future programme development.
Actively engage in the development of guidelines and manuals that can be used to improve program delivery.
Develop and share information and inputs on child rights issues to be used for Save the Children information and communication materials.
Program Quality and Effectiveness
Ensure all data is captured and regularly captured on PRIME.
Ensure the existing quality assurance tools (e.g. quality benchmark, Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning) are properly applied across program cycle.
Work closely with the MEAL advisor to ensure the project components implemented by Save the Children and partners have proper MEAL plan and IPTT.
Work closely with the PDQI team to support quality implementation including provision of technical support to partners, monitoring the implementation of quality assurance tools and incorporation of recommendations for technical improvements.
Promote children’s and community participation in the project within the sector through developing guidelines, providing technical support, and facilitating their engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
Ensure cross cutting issues such as gender and non-discrimination, inclusion of children with disabilities, conflict sensitivity, environment and climate change, child participation, and social accountability are integrated in the implementation and reporting of the project.
Review and provide input on quarterly annual and completion reports to ensure high quality reports, and recommendation on how the reports can be improved.
Together with the awards and partnerships team, conduct monitoring visits to projects to ensure quality implementation of project activities.
Together with MEAL team, document and disseminate learning and knowledge from project baselines, reviews and evaluations, and community of practices for internal reflections and use as well as partners.
Document evidence and impact case stories from projects and support the development of bi-annual Child Rights Governance and disseminate best practices through learning and knowledge management system to the public.
Work closely with the ACCM team to ensure synergy between CRG, advocacy and campaign and integration with thematic sectors; and support in advocacy and influencing on the implementing of policies and programs related to the most deprived groups of children.
Partnership Development and Capacity Building
Together with the partnership unit, undertake assessment and analysis of the capacity of partners to implement the project and contribute to the achievement of Save the Children’s breakthroughs.
Together with partnership unit and other relevant thematic sectors, organize experience sharing forums among partner organizations to promote learning on good practices and innovative approaches.
Support partner organizations while planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation and preparation of periodic and completion reports.
Identify and recommend possible support to partners to build their capacity and to facilitate project implementation.
Provide technical support to partners as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Recommended a minimum of 5-year experience in a corporate or NGO environment,
Strong experience in working with diverse partners (government, CSO, Informal structures and Children) in implementing child rights, advocacy and child protection projects- Preferably with experience in policy level advocacy and engagements at national and sub national levels.
Depth knowledge on child rights (UNCRC, ACRWC, and other child/human rights instruments), child rights monitoring and reporting.
Preferably work on partnerships and Civil society strengthening programs.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
Experience in the implementation and monitoring of projects related to child rights and child protection, development of child rights related policies, strategies and plan of actions.
Experience in Child Rights Governance and Child Rights Programming, and commitment to Save the Children values.
