The Opportunity 

The Project Coordinator will work closely with regional government bureaus, Amref Health Africa, and local implementing partners to facilitate collaboration, address implementation challenges, and support the achievement of project results. The role will contribute to promoting gender equality, disability inclusion, and climate-sensitive approaches in regional implementation, and will support the delivery of survivor-centered interventions, community engagement, peer education, facilitate trainings and other project strategies. Through effective coordination, partner support, and field-level problem solving, the Project Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring quality implementation and contributing to inclusive and sustainable project outcomes at regional level.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.

  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.

  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

The Individual

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Project Management, Reproductive Health, Sociology, Development studies, or related field. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in regional project management, with strong sectoral expertise on SRHR, CP/GBV, and related sectors with good understanding of regional context. 

  • Good team player with agility and problem-solving capability 

  • Experience of working on complex projects that involves diversified local implementing partners 

  • Knowhow of SRH and GBV strategies/policy frameworks, teenage pregnancy roadmap, child marriage, FGM.

Languages required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing is essential
  • In addition, Knowledge of Regional Languages is Mandatory
