About Center for Justice

(CJ) Center for Justice (CJ) is a leading national civil society organization registered at the Federal Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO). CJ works to promote a criminal justice system that upholds human rights and the rule of law, prioritizes alternatives to imprisonment, and has rehabilitation and reintegration at its core.

Job Summary

 Responsible for the proper transaction, recording, reporting, and documentation of the financial activities of CJ.

Job Requirements

  • Education: BA in Accounting & Finance

  • Reports to: Finance Officer

  • Salary: Negotiable based on qualifications and experience

  • Place of Work: Head Office, Adama

Duties and Responsibilities (As per HR Manual)

  • Report all financial and accounting transactions of the firm in ledger cards.

  • Check the authenticity of supporting documents and prepare payment vouchers and other necessary forms.

  • Record daily cash payments and cash receipts, consolidate the accounts, and upon approval, post on ledger cards.

  • Prepare payroll; check the correctness of payroll calculations; prepare journal vouchers and submit for approval.

  • Collect all bank statements per month to countercheck with financial reports.

  • Prepare and approve all financial reports.

  • Separately hold all accounts in a fund accounting system per program and donor.

  • Prepare cheques for payment and facilitate the withdrawing of money from the bank.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Skills & Competencies

  • Software Skills: Proven experience with Peachtree/QuickBooks or similar accounting software, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in other local languages is preferred.

  • Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel within Ethiopia.

  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Exhibits strong organizational skills.

  • Communicates clearly, politely, and effectively.

  • Demonstrates excellent time-management skills.
