Job Description

Position Overview / Scope of Role:

The Addis Ababa Sales Territory Supervisor is responsible for managing and expanding the Company's sales activities within the Addis Ababa territory. The position supervises Sales Representatives and ensures achievement of sales targets through effective territory planning, customer development, market coverage, sales execution, and performance monitoring.

The role ensures effective coverage of assigned markets, strengthens customer and distributor relationships, identifies new sales opportunities, and coordinates closely with the Marketing & Sales Department Manager, Market Development, Logistics, Warehouse, Finance, and other relevant functions to ensure smooth order fulfillment and sales collection.

  • Develop and execute territory sales plans in line with approved departmental targets.

  • Ensure achievement of assigned sales volume, revenue, and customer coverage targets.

  • Organize and monitor daily sales activities across assigned areas.

  • Ensure effective market and route coverage by Sales Representatives.

  • Identify underperforming areas and implement corrective actions.

Customer and Market Development

  • Identify and acquire new customers, distributors, retailers, and institutional accounts.

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers.

  • Monitor customer needs, market trends, competitor activities, and pricing.

  • Identify opportunities to increase product penetration and market share.

  • Ensure effective coverage of priority customers and markets.

Sales Team Supervision

  • Directly supervise and support Addis Ababa Sales Representatives.

  • Assign territories, routes, customers, and daily sales activities.

  • Monitor individual sales performance and provide coaching and corrective support.

  • Ensure sales representatives maintain proper customer records and sales reports.

  • Promote discipline, accountability, and customer-focused sales practices.

Sales Execution and Order Management

  • Monitor customer orders and ensure timely coordination with Warehouse and Logistics.

  • Follow up order fulfillment and delivery to customers.

  • Coordinate with relevant departments regarding product availability and supply gaps.

  • Minimize lost sales arising from stock shortages, delayed delivery, or poor sales follow-up.

Sales Collection Coordination

  • Follow up customer payments in coordination with Finance.

  • Monitor outstanding customer balances within the assigned territory.

  • Ensure sales teams properly communicate customer credit and payment issues.

  • Escalate high-risk or overdue accounts to the Department Manager and Finance.

Sales Reporting and Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance against targets.

  • Prepare territory sales reports and provide explanations for major deviations.

  • Track sales by product, customer, route, and sales representative.

  • Provide market and customer information to management for decision-making.

Market Intelligence

  • Collect information on competitor prices, products, promotions, distribution practices, and customer activities.

  • Identify emerging market opportunities and threats.

  • Provide practical recommendations for improving territory performance.

Coordination and Customer Service

  • Coordinate closely with Marketing, Warehouse, Logistics, Finance, and Market Development teams.

  • Ensure timely response to customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Support implementation of marketing campaigns and promotional activities within the territory.

  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and business partners.

Continuous Sales Improvement

  • Recommend improvements to sales routes, territory coverage, customer acquisition, and distribution practices.

  • Support initiatives aimed at improving sales productivity and market penetration.

  • Ensure effective utilization of sales resources within the assigned territory.

Performs other related duties as directed.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, Management, Economics, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in sales, marketing, distribution, or customer management.

  • At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.

  • Experience in FMCG, beverage, manufacturing, or distribution businesses is highly preferred.
