FC Africa is Hiring for Client's Trader position on behalf of First Addis Investment Bank

ABOUT THE COMPANY

  • First Addis Investment Bank (FAB) is a pioneering investment bank aiming to shape Ethiopia’s financial future. FAB will undertake advisory services on share registration, capital raising, underwriting, IPO readiness advisory services, and intermediation of mergers and acquisitions, catering to businesses, government entities, and retail investors seeking growth and strategic opportunities.

Job Requirements

Order Execution

  • Receive and validate client buy/sell orders for listed securities (equities, fixed income).

  • Execute orders through the trading system of the Ethiopian Securities Exchange in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ensure client orders are prioritized over any proprietary trading orders, in line with directives issued by the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority and exchange rules

Pre-Trade Controls

  • Verify that the client has sufficient settled funds (for purchases) or available securities (for sales) before order transmission.

  • Confirm that order price and volume are within exchange limits and prescribed lot sizes under ESX rules.

  • Validate that the client has given a valid, unexpired mandate (written or recorded verbal instruction), as required under applicable ECMA directives.

  • Screen orders for potential prohibited practices such as front-running, insider trading, or market manipulation, consistent with Ethiopian capital market regulations (including directives such as Directive No. 980/2024 or subsequent updates).

  • Automatically reject any order that fails pre-trade controls and escalate to compliance in accordance with ECMA and ESX rulebook requirements.

Post-Trade & Settlement

  • Confirm trade execution details to the client immediately.

  • Coordinate with back-office and the Central Securities Depository (CSD) for settlement (cash and securities transfer) in line with ESX clearing and settlement procedures.

  • Maintain a complete audit trail of all orders (received, amended, cancelled, executed) as required under Ethiopian regulatory standards.

Client Account Management

  • Assist in onboarding new clients in accordance with KYC/AML requirements issued by the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority.

  • Ensure client trading accounts are properly linked to the CSD and exchange trading system.

  • Provide clients with regular electronic statements of account in compliance with regulatory disclosure standards.

Compliance & Ethics

  • Maintain strict information barriers between brokerage and investment banking/advisory teams, as required under Ethiopian capital market regulations.

  • Do not trade based on non-public or price-sensitive information obtained through IPOs, underwriting, or advisory mandates.

  • Avoid aggregation of client orders with proprietary trades unless explicitly permitted under ESX/ECMA rules.

  • Report any erroneous or suspicious trades immediately in line with ECMA reporting obligations.

Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Submit daily trade and exception reports to the compliance function in accordance with ECMA reporting standards.

  • Reconcile client trades and positions on a daily and monthly basis.

  • Retain all client order records, confirmations, and communication logs for the legally required retention period under Ethiopian law.

  • Stay continuously updated on ESX rulebook provisions and ECMA directives (including Directive No. 980 and subsequent amendments)

REQUIREMNETS

  • BA in Accounting and Finance, Economics, Business Administration and related fields

  • 3 - 5 years of work experience

  • CISI level 3 certified

  • Preferably practical experience in the capital market sector and experience in trading activities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good management, communication, working knowledge of computer programmers including Word, Excel and Power Point, and reporting skills are required

  • Familiarity with Brokerage Banking Office (BBO), Automatic Trading System (ATS), and Central Secured Depositor of National Bank of Ethiopia (CSD)

Reporting Line

The Client's Trader will report to the Senior Trader
