National Eye Health Survey – Survey Implementation Team

1. Background

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is leading the technical implementation of the National Eye Health Survey, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), which provides overall leadership and coordinates with relevant partners. The survey aims to determine the prevalence, causes, and determinants of blindness, visual impairment, and other common ocular morbidities among the Ethiopian population of all ages. The survey will be implemented across regions and two cities in Ethiopia, urban and rural areas, and enumeration areas using standardized population-based survey methods. EPHI therefore invites qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the positions described below.

1. General Objective

To recruit qualified and experienced professionals who will support successful implementation of the National Eye Health Survey through coordination, clinical examination, participant assessment, data collection, data management, statistical analysis, quality

1. Duration of Engagement

The overall survey implementation period is expected to be six (6) months, including preparation, training, field implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform data cleaning, including handling missing data, identifying inconsistencies, and recording variables using and manage electronic survey databases and data systems.
• Monitor completeness, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Generate daily and weekly data quality reports, share them with the Central Survey Coordinator and Principal Investigator, and promptly identify, address, and resolve any data quality issues or errors.
• Ensure secure storage, backup, and controlled access.
• Work under the guidance of the research team and collaborate with project teams to ensure data integrity.
• Prepare analytical summaries, tables, and visualizations for reporting purposes.
• Ensure adherence to data privacy, security, and ethical standards.
• Perform additional tasks related to data management as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• MSc/MPH/PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science or related field.
• Experience managing large-scale survey databases.
• Proficiency in ODK/ CSPro and Stata/R/SPSS/SAS desirable.
• More than 6 years of relevant professional experience
• Relevant professional and survey/research experience.
• Technical and clinical competence, as applicable.
• Teamwork, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Salary: 58,173 per month
