Position Background and Objective
Under the EU-funded INTEPA project, Medical Teams International (MTI) provides financial support to strengthen the capacity of Metema General Hospital to deliver quality specialized healthcare services to refugees, internally displaced populations, and vulnerable host communities. Through this initiative, Metema General Hospital will employ and deploy a qualified Internal Medicine Specialist to expand access to specialized diagnosis and treatment, improve the quality of patient care, and reduce avoidable referrals to tertiary hospitals.
Job Summary

The Dentist will provide high-quality, comprehensive, and essential oral and dental healthcare services. The successful candidate will diagnose, treat, and manage oral diseases, dental trauma, and maxillofacial infections affecting the communities at Metema General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Provide immediate treatment for acute dental pain, severe oral infections, abscesses, and emergency maxillofacial trauma (e.g., jaw fractures, soft tissue lacerations) common in influx or conflict-prone settings.
Execute dental extractions, minor oral surgeries, root canal treatments, fillings, and periodontal therapies for both adult and pediatric patients.
Run daily oral health consultations, diagnostic screenings, and preventative care clinics for both refugee and host community members.
Assess and stabilize complex oral or maxillofacial surgical cases requiring specialized tertiary-level intervention and coordinate their safe referral.
Design and support targeted community outreach programs on oral hygiene, particularly focusing on children and malnourished individuals within refugee camps.
Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to national guidelines, patient safety standards, and professional ethics.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM) from a recognized university.
Valid and active dental license from the Ministry of Health (MoH) Ethiopia or relevant regulatory body.
At least 2 years of relevant post-specialization clinical experience
Other Requirements
Willingness and flexibility to work at Metema General Hospital.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
Commitment to newborn survival, patient safety, professional ethics, and equitable access to specialized care.
Employment and Supervision
The successful candidate will be formally employed and deployed by Metema General Hospital, with financial support provided by MTI through the EU-funded INTEPA project. The specialist will work under the hospital's established administrative and clinical supervision arrangements.
