In response to global market demands and international trade regulations, we are seeking a highly technical, data-driven, and detail-oriented EUDR Compliance & Traceability Officer to lead our coffee sustainability, geolocation mapping, and European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) compliance strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Geolocation & GPS Mapping: Collect, organize, and manage precise GPS coordinates for all coffee-producing farm plots. Ensure smallholder farms (<4 hectares) are mapped with single points and larger estates (>4 hectares) are accurately mapped using polygon boundaries.

• Satellite Deforestation Screening: Utilize GIS tools and satellite imagery to verify and audit that sourcing farm lands have not undergone deforestation or forest degradation after the December 31, 2020, cut-off date.

• Coffee Crop Growth Monitoring: Utilize satellite data and field audits to monitor coffee crop development, vegetation health, and seasonal growth stages.

• Digital Traceability Management: Implement and oversee a robust digital supply chain tracking system from the farm level, through coffee washing stations, up to final export shipping. Enforce strict segregation protocols to prevent compliant coffee from mixing with unverified sources.

• Local Legal Compliance Verification: Audit and document that all coffee sourcing lands possess legal tenure, adhere to local environmental protection laws, and respect labor and farmers' rights according to Ethiopian legislation.

• EU Due Diligence Execution: Prepare and submit comprehensive Due Diligence Statements into the European Union's designated IT system prior to export, and manage the tracking of official EUDR Reference Numbers.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• BSc Degree in GIS & Remote Sensing, Forestry, Environmental Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Computer Science (with GIS experience), or a related field.

Experience:

• 2 to 4 years of proven experience in agricultural traceability systems, GPS/GIS data collection, or international sustainability certifications (e.g., Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic). Specific experience with EUDR compliance is highly preferred.

Hard Skills:

• Proficiency in GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, or Google Earth Engine), mobile data collection tools (ODK, Kobo Toolbox, or specialized traceability apps), and managing digital databases.

Mindset & Soft Skills:

• Highly meticulous, systematic thinker, capable of coordinating fluidly between field staff, coffee washing station managers, and international buyers.
