Forklift Operator (Hawassa)

Job Description

Forklift operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, stack, load, or unload materials, product within a warehouse, construction site, or other settings

Duties & Responsibilities 

• Safely operating a forklift to lift, move, stack, or arrange materials or products. This includes understanding and following all safety guidelines and procedures.

• Loading and unloading materials or products onto trucks, shelves, or storage areas using the forklift. requires precise control and coordination to ensure the safe handling of items.

• Moving materials within the warehouse or worksite as per instructions, ensuring proper placement and organization. 

• Assisting in maintaining accurate inventory records by performing cycle counts, reporting discrepancies, and participating in regular inventory checks. 

• Conducting routine inspections of the forklift and reporting any malfunctions or damage to the supervisor. Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Performing basic maintenance tasks, such as fueling, lubricating, and cleaning the forklift.

• Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to materials handled, inventory movements, inspections, and maintenance tasks.

• Collaborating with supervisors, coworkers, and other team members to coordinate activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient workflow. Effective communication skills are essential for providing updates, reporting issues, and following instructions.

• Adhering to all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies. This includes following safety protocols, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and operating the forklift within designated areas.

• Responsible to report problem(S) regarding the integrated management system such as on FSMS, QMS, EMS, and OHSMS to QSHE supervisor and/or his immediate supervisor

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements

• The position requires 8th grade completion with valid forklift operator certification or license, demonstrating competence in operating a forklift

• 1-year Prior experience operating a forklift or similar heavy machinery.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines related to forklift operations.

• Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling materials and recording information.

• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

• Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.

• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management systems
