General Manager

TOCO Specialty is a modern specialty café in Addis Ababa offering premium coffee, matcha, breakfast, all-day dining, and desserts. We focus on quality products, consistent service, strong presentation, and creating a memorable customer experience.

What you’ll be doing

As General Manager, you will lead TOCO’s daily operations and ensure the café meets its sales, service, quality, and profitability targets.

You will report directly to ownership and oversee the kitchen, coffee bar, service, cashier, purchasing, and support teams. You will be responsible for creating a disciplined, customer-focused, and results-driven operation.

You will be responsible for

• Managing all daily café and restaurant operations.
• Leading department heads and ensuring effective coordination between the kitchen, bar, service, cashier, stores, and purchasing teams.
• Monitoring sales, expenses, food costs, labour costs, waste, and overall profitability.
• Setting performance targets and preparing daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
• Maintaining high standards of customer service, food quality, beverage quality, cleanliness, and presentation.
• Recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating employees.
• Developing and enforcing operating procedures, service standards, and staff policies.
• Monitoring inventory, purchasing, stock usage, shortages, and supplier performance.
• Reviewing menu performance and working with the Head Chef and management on pricing and product decisions.
• Handling customer feedback and resolving service or operational problems professionally.
• Supporting promotions, events, menu launches, and marketing activities.
• Ensuring compliance with food-safety, hygiene, cash-handling, and company requirements.

What skills and experience you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Hotel Management, or a related field.
• At least five years of hospitality experience, including two years in a restaurant, café, or hotel management role.
• Proven experience managing a high-volume food and beverage operation.
• Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, customer service, inventory, purchasing, budgeting, and cost control.
• Experience supervising multiple departments and managing a sizeable team.
• Ability to understand sales reports, food-cost reports, expenses, and operational performance.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to train employees, enforce standards, and hold teams accountable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and POS systems.
• Strong written and spoken English; Amharic is required.
• Professional, organized, reliable, and able to perform well under pressure.
