Job Description

Location: Bonga/Hawassa

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: Negotiable / Attractive

Guarantor Requirement: Selected candidates must be able to provide a sufficient guarantor according to company requirements.

Responsibilities

• Track hatchability, chick quality, losses, and production records and report performance.

• Supervise hatchery staff and ensure proper operating procedures are followed.

• Schedule production and coordinate the timely handling and delivery of chicks.

• Monitor hatchery equipment, temperature, humidity, sanitation, and biosecurity standards.

• Manage hatchery operations, including egg handling, incubation, hatching, and chick processing.

• Oversee the incubation and hatching process of poultry eggs

• Maintain optimal conditions for egg storage and incubation

• Monitor the health and growth of chick’s post-hatch

• Ensure that hatchery operations comply with animal welfare and bio-security standards

• Manage hatchery staff and provide training as needed

• Maintain, repair, and upgrade hatchery equipment

• Keep accurate records of hatchery operations

• Coordinate with other managers and staff to ensure smooth operation of the poultry business

• Implement measures to improve hatchery efficiency and chick health

• Stay informed on advancements in poultry science and hatchery technology

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Poultry Hatchery Manager or similar role

• Deep understanding of poultry science and hatchery management

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• Knowledge of animal welfare and bio-security standards

• Ability to maintain and repair hatchery equipment

• Good record-keeping skills

Education

• Degree/Masters in Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine

Experience

• 7-9+ years of experience in the sector
