Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified, experienced, and result-oriented Import Division Team Leader to lead and coordinate the company's import activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising import documentation, customs clearance coordination, shipment tracking, supplier communication, and ensuring timely and compliant delivery of imported goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the daily activities of the Import Division.
- Prepare, review, and control import documentation, including LC, Proforma Invoice, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, and other required documents.
- Coordinate with banks, suppliers, shipping companies, customs authorities, clearing agents, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Follow up on import shipments from order placement through arrival, customs clearance, and final delivery.
- Ensure proper HS Code classification and accurate import documentation.
- Monitor customs duties, taxes, and other import-related costs.
- Coordinate customs clearance and resolve documentation or shipment-related issues.
- Monitor import costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenses.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all import transactions.
- Prepare regular import status and performance reports for management.
- Supervise and support import documentation officers and other team members.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Ethiopian import, customs, banking, and trade requirements.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Import & Export Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Accounting & Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in import operations, preferably in a supervisory or team-lead position.
- Strong knowledge of import procedures, customs documentation, and international trade practices.
- Practical experience with LC, TT, CAD, shipping documents, customs clearance, and bank import documentation.
- Good understanding of HS Codes, customs valuation, duties, taxes, and import regulations.
- Experience coordinating with banks, customs offices, shipping lines, suppliers, and clearing agents.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP/accounting systems is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Good leadership and team-management skills.
