Job Summary

Sunmate Furniture is looking for an experienced and creative Interior Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing interior and furniture designs that combine functionality, aesthetics, and practicality, while preparing accurate technical drawings using CAD software.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Furniture Design, or with related field of study

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of  professional experience in interior and/or furniture design is required.

• Experience in furniture manufacturing, interior design, or a related industry is highly preferred.

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop interior designs and layouts for residential and commercial spaces.

• Design and customize furniture according to client requirements and space dimensions.

• Prepare detailed 2D drawings and technical designs using AutoCAD/CAD.

• Develop furniture drawings, measurements, specifications, and design details suitable for production.

• Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, preferences, and budgets.

• Prepare design concepts, presentations, and visual proposals for clients.

• Collaborate with the sales and production teams to ensure designs are practical and achievable.

• Conduct site visits and measurements when required.

• Modify and improve designs based on client feedback.

• Ensure designs meet quality, functionality, safety, and aesthetic standards.

• Keep up with current interior design, furniture, materials, and space-planning trends. 

Skills & Competencies

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD/CAD and ability to prepare accurate technical drawings.

• Practical knowledge of furniture design, space planning, measurements, and material selection.

• Knowledge of 3D design and rendering software such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit, or similar is an advantage.

• Strong creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with sales, production, and other teams.

• Willingness to conduct site visits and travel when required.
