As a Junior Safety Officer Position overview, the incumbent is expected to perform the following major duties and responsibilities.
Job Summary:
He/She must have commitment and devotion to achieve Advancare strategic objectives and goals. The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that Advancare Laboratories maintainsSafetyFormat a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols in line with national regulations and international laboratory standards, including biosafety, chemical safety, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance
Comply with the AL company policies and procedures.
Follow rules and regulations of health, quality, safety, and environmental regulatory requirements.
Keep up with government bodies, accreditation agencies, and industry-specific guidelines.
Implement Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Focusing laboratory processes, procedures, and documentation meet the regulatory and quality standards.
Technical Support and Non-technical Support
Develop and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with local regulations and ISO standards.
Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits of laboratory areas, equipment, and operations.
Ensure proper storage, labelling, handling, and disposal of hazardous substances and biological specimens.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; maintain detailed records and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinate fire drills, spill response drills, and other emergency preparedness exercises.
Provide safety orientation and ongoing training programs for all laboratory staff.
Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used in the laboratory.
Monitor compliance with PPE usage, ventilation systems, biosafety cabinets, and other safety controls.
Serve as the point of contact for external inspections related to health and safety.
Stay updated with regulatory changes and advancements in laboratory safety practices.

Job Requirements
Qualification and Work Experience:
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Safety, Medical Laboratory Science.
Additional Training Certification in health and safety is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a laboratory or healthcare safety role.
Familiarity with ISO 15189, JCI, CLSI guidelines, and relevant national health and safety laws.
License renewal certificate.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Technical Competencies:
Develop, implement and improve company quality standards and follow strategy to increase productivity
Knowledge of document writing, review and critical thinking.
Ability and knowledge to implement internal audit.
Review non-conforming events including internal audit reports.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Pawer Point, other internet-based platforms communication and good practice of soft skill.
Follow company rules and regulations.
Capable of training and influencing others to adopt safe practices.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
