MSD implements integrated programs across a broad range of thematic areas, including: Health and Nutrition: TB, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), and nutrition. Education and Skills Development: Access to quality education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and skills development. Social Mobilization and Livelihoods: Economic strengthening, community mobilization, and prevention of harmful traditional practices (HTPs), gender-based violence (GBV), and female genital mutilation (FGM), Migration and Trafficking: Safe migration, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration support for migrants, returnees, and victims of trafficking; Child Care and Development: Child protection, early childhood care and development, and infant and young child feeding. , Human Rights and Good Governance: Democratization, peace building, social accountability, civic engagement, and dialogue; Humanitarian and Emergency Response: Integrated assistance and protection services for communities affected by conflict, displacement, disasters, and other emergencies; and Environment and Climate Change: Environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and biodiversity conservation.
Through these integrated programs, MSD works in close collaboration with federal and regional government institutions, communities, civil society organizations, development and humanitarian partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen local systems, expand access to essential services, promote inclusion and equity, and build resilient communities across Ethiopia.
Project overview
MSD implementing a comprehensive HIV prevention in 6 non-ART DICS of high-incidence priority woredas 23 key populations friendly clinics, 5 higher learning institutions (Universities) and 3 industrial development parks of hotspot areas with larger number of workers in Amhara Region funded by global fund GC7 and align with the NSP (2023-2027) and the objectives of the new Global Fund GC7 grant.
Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse will deliver essential health services at the Drop-In Center (DIC), including clinical care, counseling, referrals, and health education. They will maintain high standards of professionalism and create a welcoming environment for all clients.
Job Requirements
Education
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Health Officer from a recognized institution.
Must be a licensed/registered nurse with a valid practicing certificate.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in community-based or public health settings.
Experience with key populations basic HIV testing and counseling training (VCT, PITC) and youth, women, or individuals living with HIV/AIDS is advantageous.
ART training and experience are added advantages.
Working Conditions
Based at the health center with occasional travel for outreach activities.
May involve working evenings, weekends, or holidays, based on client needs.

Salary: Negotiable subject to organizational salary scale and project budget

Duties and Responsibilities
Service Delivery
Session monitoring, Testing counseling and linkage to care and treatment, Referral service provision, medical care, including first aid and treatment for minor illnesses or injuries.
Conduct health assessments and screenings for DIC clients.
Counsel clients on reproductive health, mental health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and substance use.
Dispense medications per prescriptions and provide usage guidance.
Administer vaccinations, wound care, and other nursing procedures.
Create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for all clients.
Facilitate workshops and discussions on health, life skills, and preventive care.
Coordination and Referrals
Identify clients requiring specialized care and make timely referrals.
Establish and maintain partnerships with local healthcare facilities.
Follow up on referrals to ensure clients receive appropriate care.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate medical and service records.
Prepare and submit regular activity reports.
Manage inventory and ensure adequate supplies of medical and non-medical items.
Collect and report data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Safeguarding and Crisis Management
Respond effectively to health emergencies and crises.
Uphold safeguarding measures, especially for vulnerable populations.
Ensure confidentiality and ethical standards in handling client information.
Community Engagement
Conduct outreach to promote DIC services.
Foster relationships with community members, authorities, and partner organizations.
Capacity Building
Participate in relevant training to enhance skills.
Share best practices and lessons learned with team members.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in basic medical procedures and first aid.
Strong interpersonal, counseling, and communication skills.
Knowledge of reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse issues.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Fluency in [local language] and English (both written and spoken).
