Abay Investment Holding (AIH) is established as the sovereign investment arm of the Amhara Region with a broad mandate to own, manage, and grow regional public assets. AIH operates as a custodian of public wealth and a development catalyst, balancing sovereign wealth management with active commercial operations to accelerate regional economic transformation and industrialization.
2. JOB SUMMARY & PURPOSE
The Portfolio Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of sector portfolios, from acquisition and integration to growth and exit strategies. The specialist ensures that the composition and performance of sector portfolios align with AIH's strategic priorities, including diversification, risk-adjusted commercial returns, and contribution to national and regional development targets.
3. REMUNERATION & BENEFITS
Monthly Base Salary: ETB 45,000 – 65,000 (Gross, based on experience and qualification)
Allowances & Benefits: Housing, transport allowance, and progressive medical/life insurance coverage as per the approved AIH Compensation & Benefits Framework.
4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Portfolio Strategy & Governance:
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of sector portfolios, including acquisition, integration, growth, and exit strategies.
Propose and develop sector-specific investment frameworks, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and governance models for AIH and its subsidiaries.
Align sector portfolio strategies with national economic priorities and sectorial master plans.
Benchmark portfolio performance against local and global industry peers using standardized metrics.
Incorporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into portfolio decisions and subsidiary operations.
Performance Monitoring & Analytics:
Design and deploy sector-specific dashboards tracking financial, operational, and strategic KPIs.
Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of subsidiary data into AIH's central reporting system.
Conduct quarterly performance reviews, variance analyses, and root-cause assessments for underperforming sector assets.
Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with IFRS, regional regulations, and internal audit standards.
Capital & Financial Management:
Formulate annual sector-specific investment plans and multi-year capital expenditure frameworks.
Facilitate capital increases or reductions in subsidiaries in coordination with legal, finance, and governance teams.
Oversee the accurate valuation and integration of new assets into the portfolio.
Ensure debt structuring complies with AIH's leverage ratios, covenant requirements, and repayment schedules.
Job Requirements
5. ELIGIBILITY & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Minimum of a University Degree (Master's or Bachelor's degree) in Finance, Economics, Investment Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven relevant professional experience in investment analysis, asset management, corporate strategy, or financial modeling.
Familiarity with sovereign wealth funds, holding companies, or corporate portfolio oversight is highly desirable.
Core Competencies:
Technical proficiency in portfolio valuation methodologies, financial analysis, and KPI tracking.
High ethical standards, personal integrity, and accountability.
Strong strategic thinking, data visualization, and reporting capabilities.
