Kelem Ethiopia would like to invite competent, capable and creative potential candidates for the following vacant position in its project named “Creating sustainable income opportunities for vulnerable women in urban areas of the Amhara region”.
Position: Project Coordinator
Organization: Kelem Ethiopia (KELEM)
Duty Station: Kelem’s North East Ethiopia Area Project Coordination Office - Kombolcha (with travel to Dessie, Bati, and Kemisse)
Duration: One Year (with possibility of extension)
📌 Brief Description
The Project Coordinator will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Project, ensuring that activities across Dessie, Kombolcha, Bati, and Kemisse are implemented effectively and in line with donor guidelines, KELEM’s mission, and government priorities.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will lead and oversee the successful implementation of the Project. Responsibilities include:
Provide overall management and strategic direction for project activities.
Ensure alignment with donor guidelines, KELEM’s mission, and government priorities.
Coordinate with city administrations, Women & Children Affairs offices, and other stakeholders.
Oversee beneficiary selection, training, and small business support.
Ensure participatory approaches and transparency in all processes.
Monitor peer-to-peer learning and cluster-based business models.
Continuously assess political, economic, and social risks.
Implement mitigation measures including safe logistics, financial safeguards, and adaptive planning.
Lead baseline surveys, profiling, and continuous monitoring.
Prepare timely progress reports Document lessons learned and success stories.
Supervise, and mentor project staff.
Foster collaboration among technical and administrative teams.
Job Requirements
👩💼 Qualifications
Master’s degree in Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in project management within NGO/development settings.
Proven expertise in women’s economic empowerment, livelihood programs, or migration-related initiatives.
Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent communication and reporting abilities in English
Familiarity with Ethiopian government development frameworks.
