Job Description

I. General Information

  • Job Title: Radiologist

  • Immediate Supervisor: Radiology Department Manager

  • Department: AASRGH Clinical Department

  • Duty Station: Addis Ababa

II. Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Radiologist to join our team of medical professionals permanently. The Radiologist will be responsible for interpreting medical images to support the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries. This role involves analyzing X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and other imaging studies to provide accurate and timely reports to referring physicians.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong diagnostic abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to patient care. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to contribute to high-quality, patient-centered services within the hospital, ensuring that all procedures adhere to established clinical and safety standards.

III. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze diagnostic imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and other imaging modalities.

  • Review patient medical history and symptoms to determine the most appropriate imaging techniques.

  • Consult with medical professionals to discuss complex cases and provide expertise in imaging-related matters.

  • Explain procedures to patients and discuss relevant medical history before imaging.

  • Provide accurate, timely, and written reports of imaging findings to referring physicians.

  • Document findings and summaries clearly within patient electronic and physical records.

  • Ensure imaging procedures meet the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any malfunctions to maintain operational efficiency.

  • Supervise radiologic technologists, ensuring strict compliance with protocols and radiation safety measures.

  • Recommend follow-up studies or additional imaging when necessary for an accurate diagnosis.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical team meetings.

  • Contribute to the development and review of departmental imaging protocols.

  • Mentor and train junior staff and radiographers on best practices in medical imaging.

  • Stay current with advancements in radiology via continuing medical education (CME).

  • Build professional networks to support patient flow and departmental growth.

  • Respond to inquiries promptly and maintain organized documentation for audits and benchmarks.

  • Maintain availability for urgent cases outside of standard shifts as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO or Senior Management.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

a. Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Graduate from an accredited University or Medical College (MD with a specialization in Radiology).

  •  Zero  year of experience (Fresh Graduate).

  • Valid and renewed professional license.

b. Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of organizational goals, planning, and change management.

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.

  • Ability to motivate teams to maintain high-quality service delivery.

  • Self-starter with a high level of promptness and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to high professional ethics and patient confidentiality.

c. Working Conditions

  • Standard Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and Saturday (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM).

  • Flexibility: Duty may include work-from-home or hospital-based shifts depending on schedules and case urgency.

  • On-Call: The role requires availability outside of normal working hours for emergency cases.
