Job Description
Role Purpose
The Senior Inventory Accountant will oversee all inventory accounting operations for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. This role ensures accurate stock valuation, strict compliance with IFRS and company policies, seamless reconciliation between physical warehouse counts and system records, and deep analysis of manufacturing cost variances and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Cost Accounting
Monitor job costing, overhead allocation, and standard manufacturing costs for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
Track inventory levels, COGS, and prepare cost-build worksheets for imported materials.
Analyze and report variances between standard production costs and actual expenses.
Maintain accurate inventory valuations using approved methods (e.g., Weighted Average / FIFO).
Reconciliations & Audits
Perform regular cycle counts and supervise periodic physical inventory audits in the warehouses.
Reconcile physical stock counts with ERP/accounting system records and resolve discrepancies immediately.
Lead monthly and year-end inventory closing activities, including reviewing accruals and inventory reserves.
Slow-Moving & Obsolete Stock Control
Track aged, slow-moving, or obsolete (SLOB) inventory items.
Consolidate listings and prepare reports for necessary provisions or write-offs in line with company policy.
Coordinate closely with store, procurement, and production teams to optimize stock turnover.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Ensure all inventory transactions (receipts, transfers, adjustments, and issues) comply with IFRS and internal controls.
Prepare periodic inventory, valuation, and production variance reports for executive management.
Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and schedules.
Assist in mentoring and reviewing the work of junior accounting or store-auditing staff.
Cooperate and assist the Implement of food safety management system.
Report any issue in connection with food safety hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Quaifications & Requirements
Education: MSC /Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study. (
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2–3 years focused on inventory, cost accounting, or manufacturing-sector accounting.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of IFRS and manufacturing cost accounting principles (standard costing, variance analysis).
Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (such as NAV, or Peachtree) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills (working with warehouse, procurement, and production floors).
Ability to meet tight month-end closing deadlines under pressure.
