• Assist with the costing and budget preparation of new projects and purchase of fixed assets. Complete and upload the necessary documents for approval these new requests.

• Create and maintain the project and fixed assets GL accounts on SAP and ensure that all system transactions are posted completely and accurately, in accordance with Group policies and procedures. Where there are anomalies, to investigate and report them accordingly.

• Prepare & submit monthly Group AFCE report on a timely basis and respond to queries raised by project team or by Group. 

• Feed into the Project Status report completed by the Engineering team where necessary. 
• Report to management regarding the remaining budget available for projects, through close monitoring of advances, payables, committed and retention amounts.
• Review and manage all project-related records and documentation, such as billings and invoices, contracts, memos, change orders and any other information as required.. Ensure such expenses are either accrued or posted correctly to the right GL accounts.
• Prepare project payments, monitor cash flow and communicate with the project and payable staff on tracking payables and when the projects are paid, including for retention amounts. 
• Report and investigate project variances, where identified. 
• Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects, where necessary. 

• Maintain Fixed Assets Register book on SAP and ensure all expenditures of a capital nature shall be capitalized based on Finance & Accounting policy. Track capital expenditures in comparison to the budget and expenditure approvals

• Maintain a Fixed Assets Register for tax purposes. Identify where assets may have to be capitalized into the Tax Register that is not in the Fixed Assets Register. 

• Assess property, plant and equipment for impairment triggers and perform appropriate impairment tests when necessary. Facilitate for Fixed & intangible Assets Revaluation & impairment review process on annual basis and when needed.

• Support & lead the annual fixed asset inventory processes 

• Review and validate fixed asset related balance sheet accounts monthly. 

• Ad hoc projects assigned by senior management including analysis of business operations, proposed accounting treatment of unusual transactions or other accounting and finance related matters.

• Ensure that the depreciation run and amortization is done on SAP monthly. Calculate the tax depreciation on a yearly basis or as necessary. 

• Ensures that information on financial status of the Company is readily at hand whenever required and performs other related duties as required or requested.

Qualification

• BA degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 4 years of relevant financial experience in the manufacturing industry
• Good understanding of Project Management and Accounting rules - experience working with assets when it is in operational and project status
• Knowledge of how IFRS and Ethiopian Tax regulations differ with regards to fixed asset accounting.
