We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our dynamic team and support our financial operations with accuracy, professionalism, and integrity.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Accountant located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and counsel on budgetary controls. Additionally, they will prepare financial forecasts and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee and verify all general saless records and reports to ensure accuracy and strict adherence to established financial and accounting standards. 
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
  • Involve on tax audits and tax returns
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Plan, assign and review staff’s work
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain general ledger and journal entries
  • Oversee daily accounting activities and cash management
  • Ensure timely payment of taxes, and compliance with tax regulations
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits
  • Coordinate with banks, suppliers, and government bodies
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes efficiently. 
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, HR) to gather, align, and verify data necessary for accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and Review all Monthly Payroll for the Company.

Experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Peachtree/Sage, ERP systems)
  • Excel skills and good command of English and Amharic (written and spoken)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and complex reconciliations. 
  • Familiarity with inventory management and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems integration for financial control. 
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. 
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex financial information clearly and concisely. 
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
