- Role and responsibilities
The Education Project Officer is based in Mai Tsebri , Dima and Tselemti Woredas and supports the planning, implementation, and monitoring of education projects aimed at improving learning outcomes and access to quality education for targeted communities. The officer will work closely with partners, schools, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and on schedule under the Education CC project
Generic responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements,
- Assist in the development and implementation of education project activities according to the approved project plan.
- Coordinate with schools, community leaders, and education authorities to facilitate project interventions.
- Support beneficiary identification, registration, and data management processes.
- Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and community meetings as required.
- Monitor project progress, collect data, and prepare regular reports on activities and outcomes.
- Liaise with partners, government education offices, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Support logistics and procurement related to project activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of project documentation, proposals, and donor reports.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and ethical standards.
- Support in resolving issues and challenges arising during project implementation in the field.
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required
- Investigate and facilitate the introduction of new technology, methods and approaches to improve the quality of the educational activities
- Continuously maintain the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of programme
Specific responsibilities
- These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
- Coordinate and support the planning and implementation of education project activities in line with the project framework and objectives.
- Facilitate the identification, registration, and enrollment of eligible beneficiaries, ensuring accurate and timely data collection.
- Conduct field visits to monitor project progress, verify data accuracy, and provide technical support to implementing partners or schools.
- Organize and conduct capacity-building sessions, training, and workshops for teachers, facilitators, and community members.
- Support the development and distribution of education materials, including curriculum supplements and instructional aids.
- Collect, compile, and analyze project data to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports for project stakeholders.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with local education authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations.
- Assist in identifying challenges and risks related to project implementation and suggest corrective measures.
- Support logistics planning for project activities including procurement, transport of materials, and event coordination.
- Contribute to donor reporting, proposal development, and documentation of lessons learned and best practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to child protection policies, gender equality, and inclusion principles in all project activities.
- Facilitate community mobilization and advocacy efforts to enhance school enrollment and retention.
- Assist in organizing review meetings and coordination forums with stakeholders at different levels.
- Provide regular feedback to the Project coordinator on ground realities, achievements, and challenges encountered.
- Support the use of monitoring and evaluation tools to track project outcomes and impact.
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the line supervisors
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- A minimum of first degree in education, preferably in Pedagogical science, Educational Psychology, Educational Administration or related etc
- 3 years of experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context including skill training and livelihood and food security is an asset
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own manager skills/profile
- Fluency in English, Amharic, Tigrigna written and verbal
