The Marketing Strategy & Innovation Manager is responsible for leading Komari’s marketing strategy, annual and quarterly marketing plans, and innovation roadmap. The role ensures close alignment and collaboration across Marketing, R&D, Sales, and Trade Marketing to deliver insight-led, consumer-driven, and commercially successful initiatives.
This position bridges strategic marketing planning with innovation and R&D, ensuring that Komari’s product and marketing pipeline reflect evolving consumer needs, market dynamics, and brand objectives.
Purpose of Role
- Lead Komari's annual and quarterly marketing strategy and plan, ensuring alignment with the company's brand and business objectives.
- Oversee marketing innovation and R&D initiatives to deliver consumer-led, high-quality, and profitable products.
- Collaborate with the Senior Brand Manager, Trade Marketing team, and Sales department to ensure smooth planning and execution of marketing and innovation activities.
- Support the Senior Brand Manager on marketing executions to maintain strategic consistency and efficient implementation.
- Conduct Brand Health Surveys in partnership with the Business Intelligence team and Senior Brand Manager to evaluate brand performance, generate insights, and produce actionable reports.
- Provide market intelligence, forecasts, and performance analyses to guide strategic decision-making and future planning.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Lead Komari’s annual and quarterly marketing strategy and planning process, ensuring full departmental alignment and timely delivery.
- Develop and manage the marketing innovation roadmap in collaboration with R&D, ensuring projects are consumer-led and brand-aligned.
- Identify growth opportunities through ongoing category, consumer, and competitive analysis.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Brand Manager, Trade Marketing, and Sales teams to align on campaigns, product launches, and activation plans.
- Conduct Brand Health Surveys with the Business Intelligence team to track key performance indicators, interpret data, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
- Work with R&D to translate market insights and brand needs into innovation briefs, product concepts, and testing protocols.
- Support the Chief Brand Officer with planning reports, performance dashboards, and strategic presentations.
- Coordinate cross-functional marketing planning sessions to ensure alignment between Marketing, Sales, and Production.
- Monitor marketing and innovation budgets, ensuring proper tracking and reporting of expenses.
- Promote a data-driven and consumer-led culture within the marketing and innovation functions.
Qualification and Experience Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing
Experience:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in marketing strategy, planning, or innovation within FMCG or beverage industries.
- Proven experience leading marketing plans, product development projects, and innovation pipelines.
- Strong collaboration experience with cross-functional teams including Sales, Trade, and R&D.
- Knowledge of consumer insights, category management, and innovation processes.
Skills:
- Excellent strategic and analytical capabilities.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Effective communicator with strong presentation and coordination abilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Fluent in English and Amharic, both written and spoken.
