Location/duty station: Benshangul Gumuz, Asosa Zone, Kurmuk Woreda Project Site - Fly In/Fly out roster (6/2weeks)

Employment Type: Full-Time | Site-Based

KGM is searching for a CAD Coordinator  (Draughtsman)  with a focus on site development, grading, and infrastructure design, and whose duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

              Drafting and design: 

• Create and update 2D and 3D technical drawings for mine infrastructure, such as roads, waste dumps, and underground layouts, using software like AutoCAD and Civil3D
• Prepare and maintain maps which include regional mining rights, maps reflecting current leases, adjacent competitors and exploration maps using geological information

• Prepare maps for legal reporting including competing applications, amendments to current license applications, environmental assessments, mine works programmed, competent person reports and assisting with maps for the company’s integrated annual report 

  Data and system management: 

• Manage, maintain, and update all CAD data and systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
• Collect and analyze computerized data banks of spatial data, remote sensors, satellites and other sources

• Export and convert data using various software applications

  Standards and compliance: 

• Define and implement drafting standards in accordance with legal requirements and produce statutory plans to ensure legal compliance. 

  Coordination: 

• Coordinate design work with other engineering and drafting disciplines, as well as with internal and external stakeholders. 

  Model management: 

• Create 3D models for visualization and coordination and use tools like Navisworks for clash detection. 

  Problem-solving: 

• Investigate and resolve problems with existing designs and make corrections to drawings as needed. 

  Reporting: 

• Produce reports and technical specifications and assist with quantity calculations. 
• Create visual aids and presentations

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

• BA or MA in Geology , Mining Engineering, Arch or Engineering related filed with 5 – 7 years’ experience in the mining or a related industry,
• Mine Surveying Draughting Certificate 
• Geographical Information System (GIS) certification
• Any other technical computer aided Draughting certificate would be advantageous

• Be in possession of an Ethiopian driver’s license.

  Required Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Navisworks and MicroStation with fair knowledge of Jador and GIS systems
• General understanding of geology
• Knowledge of geography
• Written and spoken English and Amharic 
• Able to work within tight timelines, maintaining accuracy and efficiency of assigned tasks
