The Opportunity 

This position holder shall ensure that activities are implemented duly as planned, compile detailed performance reports and best practices regularly as required and put in place strategies for effective and smooth operation of the project. The coordinator may also be expected to take an active role in technical coordination, support and advocacy with the country-specific Education Clusters, other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

• Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.

• Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

• Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.

• Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

The Individual

Qualifications/ Experience/Skills Essential:

• MA/BA degree in Education, Community Development, Psychology, Social Sciences

• 5+ years of relevant experience, out of which 3 years of successful assignments in a complex refugee emergency.

• Sound analytical and problem-solving capability; ability to influence others’ behaviour through effective relationship building; thorough current knowledge and understanding of relevant policies, frameworks, etc.

• Experience with the following technical areas: 

• Planning, implementation and monitoring of emergency response projects 

• Mobilising as well as facilitating training to teachers

• Experience and skills in budget planning and management

• Knowledge and practical experience in EiE as per the INEE Minimum Standards

• Participation and/or education technical working group and coordination with the Education Cluster

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

• Knowledge of humanitarian interventions/activities in refugee settings.  

• Sensitivity to gender and inclusion in EiE contexts.

• Ability to deliver quality programs in a short time and work under stressful conditions.

Languages required:

• Fluency in the English language is essential

• In addition to Amharic, Knowledge of other Local Languages is a desirable
