We are currently seeking a highly technical and customer-oriented Field Application Specialist to join our Life Science division, specifically focusing on the Molecular and Genomics portfolio.

The Role

As a Field Application Specialist (FAS), you will be the technical bridge between our advanced molecular products and our clinical/research customers. You will provide expert scientific support, product demonstrations, and post-sales training to ensure that laboratories across Ethiopia can maximize the potential of our genomics and molecular diagnostic platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Provide on-site and remote technical troubleshooting for molecular assays, PCR platforms, and sequencing workflows.
  • Training & Implementation: Conduct end-user training for laboratory personnel on new equipment and reagent kits.
  • Product Demonstrations: Support the sales team by performing high-level technical presentations and "wet-lab" demonstrations for prospective clients.
  • Assay Optimization: Assist customers in validating and optimizing protocols to ensure accurate and reproducible results.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay updated on the latest trends in genomics and molecular diagnostics to provide feedback to the marketing and sales departments.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong professional relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and lab managers.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who combines deep scientific knowledge with excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable working in a laboratory setting and possess the patience to teach complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (with occasional domestic travel)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related Life Science field.
  • Experience: * Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory.
    • Prior experience with Real-Time PCR (qPCR), Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), or Nucleic Acid Extraction is highly preferred.
    • Previous experience in a technical support or application specialist role is an advantage.
  • Skills: Proficiency in data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
