Job Description

A leading national trading enterprise is seeking a highly qualified Director, Accounting & Finance to provide strategic financial leadership and ensure sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and accurate financial reporting. The role is responsible for mitigating financial risks, strengthening internal controls, and supporting sustainable organizational growth through robust financial planning and analysis.

The Director will oversee budgeting, treasury, taxation, financial reporting, and digital finance transformation while serving as a key advisor to executive management and the Board.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational objectives

• Oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans

• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Ethiopian regulations

• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity

• Establish and maintain strong internal control systems

• Ensure full compliance with VAT, income tax, and other statutory obligations

• Review and approve major financial transactions and capital expenditures

• Provide financial analysis to support pricing, investment, and expansion decisions

• Oversee treasury operations, including foreign exchange management

• Coordinate with auditors, tax authorities, and regulators

• Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing finance team

• Drive ERP adoption and automated financial reporting

• Provide regular financial performance and risk reports to the CEO and Board

• Collaborate with other directorates to optimize costs and improve profitability

Requirements

Education & Professional Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• CPA, ACCA, or IFRS certification (obtained or renewed within the last 5 years and valid for practice)

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management

• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role

• Strong experience with IFRS reporting and Ethiopian tax regulations

• Proven competence in ERP systems, digital finance tools, and automated reporting

• Evidence of continuous professional development within the last 3 years
