Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Drivers & Fleet Supervisor/Drivers & Fleet Supervisor Assistant, the Heavy Truck Driver, is responsible for transporting vehicles, arrange vehicles on the truck and loading unloading vehicles in compliance with rules and regulations for transporting vehicles; keeping the regular maintenance and annual inspection; inspecting the truck before driving, while on the road and after deliveries.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Inspects vehicles for damage before staging loads;

2. Operates a variety of transport equipment, arranges vehicles on the truck, and loads and unloads;

3. Provides clients with on-time and damage-free delivery;

4.   Makes sure the loads meet legal height, weight and length restrictions;

5. Maintains records of vehicles picked up and delivered, along with kilometers  driven, tolls paid, and other activities; 

6. Maintains records of stops and keeps detailed records of kilometers driven, provides proof of delivery;

7. Familiarizes him/her self with routes so as to make adjustments while driving;

8. Inspects assigned truck before driving, while on the road and after deliveries;

9. Keeps the regular maintenance and annual inspection in check;

10. Reports any accidents or delays to immediate supervisor and keeps detailed records of vehicle maintenance;

11. Keeps in touch with supervisor while driving along routes;

12. Provides updates frequently to supervisor on delivery timelines, routes, distance  driven and breaks taken; 

13. Performs other duties as required.

From recognized collage/TVET 10+1 or level I certificate in Auto mechanics/Automotive Technology, truck driver’s certification permit (Category D-3) and 2 years in the field

Or

12th/10th grade complete, 5th grade driving license and 5 years driving work experience

Or

8thgrade complete, 5thgrade driving license and 6 years driving work experience
