Job Summary

Plan, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of nutrition activities at supported health facilities and outreach sites, ensuring adherence to national and organizational protocols. Provide regular supportive supervision, monitoring, and capacity building for HWs and HEWs on IMAM and MIYCN through trainings, refreshers, and on-the-job coaching. Ensure timely collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting of SAM, MAM, and MIYCN data, maintaining accurate filing systems and beneficiary records at woreda and facility levels. Support and facilitate IYCF and MIYCN activities, including food demonstrations, MTMSGs, Family and mass MUAC screening, and sensitization of key influencers. Monitor nutrition trends, manage nutrition supplies and commodities, ensure proper stock levels and timely procurement, and represent International Medical Corps in nutrition coordination meetings with woreda offices, WFP, and partners.

Main Duties & Responsibilities : 

  • Plan and oversee the implementation of all the nutrition activities within supported Health facilities and outreach sites.

  • Conducting regular supportive supervision and monitoring of nutrition activities.

  • Support in capacity building of HWs and HEWs  on IMAM and MIYCN, identify training needs/gaps and conduct regular refresher and on job training sessions.

  • Collect and compile  SAM, MAM and MIYCN reports and provide feedback to the team.

  • Timely compilation of nutrition data and share weekly and monthly report.

  • Regular submission of weekly, biweekly, and monthly nutrition reports according to the stipulated deadlines

  • Development and maintenance of nutrition filling system at woreda and health facility level ensuring that accurate beneficiary records are maintained.

  • Support IYCF officers and other  staff to conduct food demonstration, formation, and facilitation of MTMSGs, Family MUAC and mass MUAC screening.

  • Facilitate MIYCN sensitization sessions for key influencers on a quarterly basis.

  • Check that the medical and nutritional protocols are respected: admission and discharge criteria, frequency of measurement, distribution of nutrition products and systematic treatment protocols are followed.

  • Ensure proper filling of MIYCN, SAM and MAM registers and referral forms and that anthropometric and nutritional data are entered correctly. 

  • Ensure that the health facilities keep an updated stock of all essential nutrition supplies and requisitions of nutrition supplies are made in a timely manner.

  • Represent International Medical Corps in all nutrition meetings with in woreda  and Partners within the districts and provincial level.

  • Monitor nutrition trends and update the manager/coordinator on areas of concern.

  • Identify nutrition procurement needs and raise procurement requests on time for the HSCs.

  • Manage nutrition commodities (Drugs, micronutrient supplements, nutrition commodities, NFIs, items for food demonstrations).

  • Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.

  • Degree in nutrition or nursing or public health with 3 years of experience or diploma in nutrition or nursing or public health with 5 years of experience- Renewed MoH professional license is important

  • 3 years of experience or diploma in nutrition or nursing or public health with 5 years of experience- Renewed MoH professional license is important

  • Experience on emergency nutrition intervention  like CMAM, IYCF and Nutrition sensitive interventions

  • Training on updated CMAM and IYCF

  • Experience of facilitation of training and review meetings

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and knowledge of local language(written and spoken Somali language is mandatory)

  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel)

  • Ensure that IMC’s food security program and approach is in line with policies and strategies of the Government of Ethiopia’s as well
