Asphalt and Structure Forman

Job Description

The Foreman directly supervises the daily field work of crews on road construction and maintenance projects. Asphalt Foremen lead paving, patching, and overlay works. Structure Foremen lead the construction of culverts, bridges, retaining walls, drainage, and other road structures. The role makes sure work is done safely, to specification, and on schedule.

Job Requirement

Education: Diploma or certificate in Road Construction Maintenance and Management, Civil & Urban Engineering or in any related field of study with relevant work experience

Experience:

• Asphalt Foreman: More than 4 years in asphalt road construction

• Structure Foreman: More than 5 years as a structural foreman in road work

Quantity Required: 3

Location of work: Different project sites

Duties & Responsibilities:

Asphalt Foreman

• Prepare the surface for paving: cleaning, patching, and tack coat or prime coat application

• Supervise asphalt laying, including paver operation, spreading, and joints

• Control mix temperature, layer thickness, and compaction with roller operators

• Supervise pothole repair, crack sealing, and edge and shoulder works

• Coordinate with the plant and the haulage trucks for timely delivery of the mix

Structure Foreman

• Set out and supervise excavation, formwork, reinforcement, and concreting

• Check rebar placement, formwork alignment, and concrete cover before pouring

• Supervise concrete mixing, placing, vibrating, and curing

• Build culverts, headwalls, retaining walls, and masonry or gabion works

• Check dimensions and levels with the surveyor and engineer
