Derba Hotels and Resorts PLC is an emerging hospitality developer in Ethiopia. We are finalizing construction of the Sihin Hotel and Convention Center (SHCC), a premier 5-star hotel and state-of-the-art venue in Dessie. As we prepare for the operational launch of the Convention Center, we aim to set a new benchmark for the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry in the Amhara Regional State.
The Opportunity
Role Overview:
Position Summary: Responsible for the strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Sihin Convention Center, including high-level conference logistics, event culinary coordination, and international marketing initiatives.

What We’re Looking For
Experience:
Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in 4-star (or above) hotels, large-scale convention centers, or premier event venues.
Skills:
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in bidding for and executing international and local conferences, summits, and exhibitions.
- Advanced yield management, budgeting, and financial forecasting for the MICE sector.
- Proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS), Event Management Software, and CRM software.
- Synchronized floor plan management, VIP protocol coordination, and seamless event execution.
- Collaboration with executive culinary teams for 4-star banquet delivery.
- Manages the convention center’s unique tech, including live streaming, interactive digital displays, and virtual event management.
- Focus on pre-event consultation, customized delegate experiences, and post-event follow-up.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to inspire a diverse team and maintain international service standards.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with government officials, corporate leaders, and international partners.
- High adaptability in high-pressure, demanding environments.
Education & Certifications
Educational Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
Certifications: Professional certification in event management or MICE is a distinct advantage.
