Laundry Machine Oprator

Job Description

• Operate and Maintain Equipment:

• Load and unload hospital linens, uniforms, gowns, and other items into industrial washing and drying machines.

• Adjust machine settings based on fabric type, soil level, and required sanitation procedures.

• Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning lint filters and checking machine function.

• Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the supervisor.

• Sorting and Processing:

• Sort dirty linens and garments by fabric type, color, and contamination level.

• Pre-treat heavily soiled or stained items before washing.

• Fold, press, and distribute clean laundry to designated hospital departments.

• Quality Control & Compliance:

• Ensure all linens and garments meet cleanliness and hospital hygiene standards.

• Follow hospital policies and infection control guidelines for handling contaminated laundry.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Inventory & Record-Keeping:

• Monitor detergent, bleach, and other chemical levels; report when supplies need replenishing.

• Keep accurate records of laundry loads processed daily.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

• Prior experience in a hospital or commercial laundry facility is an advantage.

• Knowledge of laundry procedures, chemicals, and safety protocols.

• Physical stamina to lift heavy loads and stand for long periods.

• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

• Understanding of infection control and workplace safety standards.
