1. Job Purpose

The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling the company's logistics operations to ensure the timely, efficient, and cost-effective movement, storage, utilization, and availability of materials, equipment, machinery, vehicles, and other resources required for construction projects and company operations.

The position ensures effective coordination between Head Office, project sites, Procurement, Finance, Stores, Operations, and other relevant departments while maintaining proper documentation, internal controls, safety, and compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

1. Key Responsibilities

A. Logistics Planning and Coordination

• Develop and implement the company's logistics plan in line with project and operational requirements.
• Coordinate the movement and delivery of construction materials, equipment, machinery, and other resources to project sites.
• Prepare logistics schedules and monitor timely delivery of required resources.
• Coordinate logistics requirements with Project Managers, Project Administrators, Procurement, Finance, Stores, and Operations.
• Identify potential logistics delays and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of logistics resources.

B. Fleet and Transportation Management

• Manage company vehicles, trucks, heavy machinery transportation, and other transportation resources.
• Monitor vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance, licensing, insurance, and related documentation.
• Ensure vehicles and transportation services are assigned based on approved operational requirements.
• Monitor vehicle movement and transportation costs.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair schedules with the relevant departments.
• Ensure proper documentation for vehicle dispatch, trip authorization, fuel utilization, and vehicle return.
• Monitor third-party transportation service providers and ensure compliance with contractual requirements..

C. Construction Equipment and Machinery Logistics

• Coordinate the deployment, transfer, and return of construction machinery and equipment between projects.
• Maintain accurate records of machinery and equipment movement.
• Monitor equipment utilization and availability.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair requirements.
• Ensure equipment is deployed based on approved project requirements.
• Coordinate with the Operations and Workshop teams regarding machinery availability and technical requirements.

D. Project Site Logistics

• Coordinate logistics requirements of all active project sites.
• Ensure construction materials, equipment, machinery, and other resources reach project sites on time.
• Monitor site logistics challenges and provide timely solutions.
• Establish effective communication between project sites and Head Office.
• Conduct periodic site visits to assess logistics operations and resource utilization.
• Support Project Managers in resolving logistics-related operational challenges.

E. Contract and Service Provider Management

• Monitor logistics-related contracts and service agreements.
• Ensure service providers comply with agreed terms and conditions.
• Monitor transportation, equipment rental, and other logistics service contracts.
• Maintain proper contract-related logistics documentation.
• Report contract performance issues to management and recommend corrective action.

H. Cost Control and Budget Management

• Prepare and monitor the logistics department budget.
• Monitor transportation, fuel, vehicle maintenance, equipment movement, and other logistics costs.
• Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary logistics expenditure.
• Prepare periodic logistics cost reports for management.
• Ensure logistics expenditures are supported by appropriate approvals and documentation.
• Coordinate with Finance on logistics-related payments, reconciliations, and budget utilization.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, Procurement, Operations Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant work experience in logistics, supply chain, transportation, fleet, warehouse, or construction logistics management.
• Relevant experience in a construction or infrastructure company is highly desirable.
• At least 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience in logistics operations.
