Position Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of African Capital Partners (ACP) is a strategic and operational leader responsible for managing all core investment and analytical divisions — including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Capital Markets, Financial Advisory, and Research. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the COO ensures the efficient execution of the firm’s investment strategy, operational excellence, and market leadership across Africa’s capital and financial markets. The role demands strong financial acumen, exceptional leadership, and a results-oriented mindset to align all operational units with ACP’s mission of driving sustainable investment growth and market transformation. The COO works closely with the CEO and Board in strategic decision-making, resource allocation, risk oversight, and organizational scaling — ensuring ACP remains at the forefront of innovation, compliance, and performance in Africa’s investment landscape.
Core Purpose of the Role
To provide strategic operational leadership and ensure the seamless execution of ACP’s investment, financial advisory, and research activities — maximizing efficiency, profitability, and market influence across all business lines.
Translate the CEO’s strategic vision into operational and investment execution frameworks across all departments.
Drive strategic alignment and coordination among M&A, Capital Markets, Financial Advisory, and Research teams.
Lead the development of corporate plans, investment roadmaps, and business performance frameworks.
Collaborate with the CEO on strategic decisions, corporate partnerships, and growth initiatives.
Supervise and provide direction to the M&A team in deal origination, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, and integration.
Guide the Capital Markets division in structuring, underwriting, and executing equity and debt transactions.
Oversee Financial Advisory engagements including corporate restructuring, project finance, and strategic advisory services.
Ensure transactions comply with regulatory, ethical, and client standards.
Lead the creation and monitoring of annual operational budgets, KPIs, and performance targets for all departments.
Ensure profitability, efficiency, and scalability of ACP’s investment operations.
Optimize workflows, cost control, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Drive process automation and implementation of best-in-class financial systems.
Oversee the Research Division to ensure timely, high-quality market, sector, and company analysis.
Integrate data-driven insights into investment and advisory decisions.
Promote thought leadership through research publications and market outlook reports.
Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks, corporate governance standards, and internal controls.
Manage operational and investment risk across departments.
Collaborate with the CEO and legal advisors to safeguard ACP’s integrity and client trust.
Lead and mentor Directors and Associates across all investment and advisory functions.
Build high-performing, multidisciplinary teams aligned with ACP’s values and objectives.
Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, financial institutions, and corporate partners.
Represent ACP in key meetings, negotiations, and public engagements.
Support the CEO in fundraising, capital structuring, and investor confidence initiatives.
Champion digital transformation and analytics-driven decision-making.
Benchmark against global investment and operational best practices.
Introduce new products, investment vehicles, and partnerships that enhance ACP’s competitiveness.
