Job Description: Media & Communications Officer
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Reports to: Corporate Communications & PR Manager
Position Summary
The Media & Communications Officer is responsible for supporting Komari’s corporate reputation and visibility through high-quality content creation, media coordination, and consistent communication delivery. This role ensures that all external and internal communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with the company’s voice.
The Officer will work across press, digital, and internal platforms, drafting materials, monitoring media, coordinating events, and preparing reports that help keep Komari’s communications clear, professional, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
1. Media Relations & External Communication
- Draft and prepare media materials including press releases, fact sheets, media kits, and Q&As.
- Maintain updated databases of journalists, editors, and media outlets.
- Support media outreach by coordinating distribution schedules and follow-ups.
- Monitor media coverage daily, compiling summaries, sentiment analysis, and trend insights.
- Contribute to event-related communications (press conferences, sponsorship activations, panel participation).
2. Content Development & Storytelling
- Draft first versions of speeches, articles, newsletters, and digital storytelling content.
- Collect stories, quotes, data, and visuals from across the organization to create engaging narratives.
- Prepare case studies and success stories that highlight Komari’s impact in the beverage industry.
- Ensure communication materials are well-structured, accurate, and in line with brand tone and templates.
- Keep an organized archive of communication assets (bios, fact sheets, templates, images).
3. Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Draft internal memos, announcements, and intranet updates to keep employees informed.
- Assist in preparing communication toolkits for employee engagement initiatives.
- Support recognition and loyalty programs with content and logistics.
- Document internal events, preparing reports, summaries, and communication highlights.
4. Event & Campaign Coordination
- Handle logistics for communication-related events such as media briefings, panels, and employee gatherings.
- Draft briefing packs and talking points for leaders participating in events.
- Coordinate media registrations, photo documentation, and coverage reports during events.
- Provide on-site support to ensure smooth communication flow and timely information delivery.
5. Monitoring, Reporting & Research
- Conduct daily and weekly monitoring of print, broadcast, and digital media.
- Prepare regular reports highlighting coverage volume, sentiment, and industry trends.
- Track communication KPIs such as media reach, engagement, and visibility.
- Research communication practices within the beverage industry to support benchmarking.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in corporate communications, PR, journalism, or media.
- Demonstrated experience drafting communication materials such as press releases or reports.
- Familiarity with media monitoring systems and digital publishing platforms is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English (Amharic is an advantage).
- Strong organizational and project management ability with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office; basic design skills (Canva/Adobe Suite) are a plus.
- Ability to synthesize information and translate it into clear, engaging communication.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
