Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services. Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2025. 

Purpose of the Position

The People and Admin Manager will be responsible for the overall people and administrative functions within Dodai. S/he will be responsible to make sure the people and admin team delivers perfect service to the company and its different teams.

S/he will be expected to deliver hands-on leadership to ensure the provision of practical, timely support, advice and direction to team members on the full life cycle of People and Admin activities. Activities and support include; People policies and procedures development and interpretation, regulations interpretation, support on employee relations, compensation and benefits. The successful candidate is expected to make sure all HR operations run smoothly. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan People and administration activities annually and communicate to managers and team members to ensure alignment
  • Address people related issues with managers, team leads and supervisors in a proactive and diplomatic fashion, identifying practical solutions and appropriate action plans
  • Develop, review, revise and streamline general HR procedures and forms to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead the development and implementation of new Talent Acquisition strategy that best suits the organization’s mission
  • Develop and implement employer brand to ensure the organization is an employer of choice
  • Collaborate with the different teams to analyze and generate offers of employment
  • Conduct exit interviews, identify trends and recommend actions to address concerns
  • Develop and maintain periodic HR reports for management, utilizing standard metrics
  • Develop, update, implement and/or communicate personnel policies and procedures in compliance with standard HR practices, laws and regulations;
  • Engage different teams on a variety of HR issues and initiatives while providing clear guidance and communication related to labor law, comp and benefits, employee relations, etc
  • Manage annual performance review process with all teams
  • Work with the People team to scope and redefine an effective learning and development programme that unlocks potential and grows the confidence and expertise of teams across all areas of the organization
  • Ensure maintenance of all HR files (public and private) in easy-to-navigate electronic and physical files 
  • Liaise with the legal council to ensure work permits for expatriate staff are renewed in time and all documents are available for quick processing 
  • Set up a highly productive and high performing team that is committed to supporting the various team to success 
  • Support administrative needs within the organization as requires
  • Bachelor's degree in business fields such as Management, HR, Business Administration or closely related fields
  • 5 - 7 years experience in a fast paced environment in a similar position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and efficiency;
  • Excellent sense of initiative, ability to set priorities and work under pressure with accuracy and dedication;
  • Good knowledge of the Ethiopian labor legislation
  • Good experience working with basic technology tools such as word, excel, email etc.
